131. Canoe Ontario
Sprint, recreational, marathon and wild water affiliates.
http://canoeontario.ca/
Canoe Ontario
Canoe Ontario is a collective voice for canoeing in Ontario, which promotes the interests and supports the activities of its Affiliates. It is also the Provincial Sport Organization for canoe/kayak in Ontario, dealing with the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation (MTR) on matters related to the sport. Canoe Ontario was established in 1974 and incorporated in June 1977. It serves as an umbrella group for three affiliated organizations: Ontario Canoe Sprint Racing Affiliation (OCSRA) Ontario Marathon Canoe Racing Association (OMCRA) Whitewater Ontario (WO). Prior to February 2000, the Ontario Recreational Canoe Association (ORCA) was also a member of Canoe Ontario. Canoe Ontario has no direct relationship with the Canadian Canoe Association, but all three affiliates are part of CCA (OCSRA indirectly through the two CCA divisions in Ontario). Each of the affiliations plans and executes its own programs in the areas of Athlete, Coach, Volunteer, and Participation development. Canoe Ontario consolidates the affiliate business plans into the form required for MTR submission and allocates grants received to the affiliations. The "administration" component is kept to a minimum.

Welcome to the South Africans in Ontario web site.

Since I originally wrote the welcome piece to this site over four years ago many aspects have changed! We now know that officially there are over 30,000 South Africans in Ontario and possibly up to 50,000 when you factor in some of the people that are not "officially" here as immigrants. The latest figures for Canada put our numbers at 300,000 and rising (although very slowly judging by the long waiting times to get visas) The largest group still live in British Columbia followed by Ontario with Alberta getting a lot more of us lately! We no longer have the e-mail address readily available on the site thanks in part to one unscrupulous spam artist and the need to be a lot more security conscious as well. This doesn't mean that we can't contact each other, merely that it will now be necessary to go through the web master. Since the start of the web site we have grown in leaps and bounds. There is also a newsletter that goes out regularly to thousands of South Africans here in Ontario.
