Your Guide to Friends in Oklahoma! T he Gaillardia shown in the window above the FOLIO bookshelf, is Oklahoma's official State wildflower.
Also known as the Indian Blanket, the flower symbolizes Oklahoma's scenic beauty as well as the state's Indian
heritage. Oklahoma's landscape is also adorned with many
beautiful libraries, libraries that, like the Gaillardia, need nurturing and support in order to bloom to their fullest glory. Minutes - Meeting of October 3 2003 Agenda - Legislative Day March 9, 2004 FOLIO Retreat - June 10-11, 2004 (Check back later for details) At the Governor's
Conference on Libraries in 1978, a proclamation called for a state Friends of the Library to be formed. From that Proclamation came the original Board and Membership
of Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma, FOLIO. All Board
Members are lovers of books so the name FOLIO seemed
exactly right. The mission of FOLIO is to promote and

Forward: from the Memorial Institute for Prevention of Terrorism Notes on the Bibliography Format View the Bibliography Sections This bibliography is intended to serve as a means of access to the copious and wide-ranging gamut of information produced by the United States Government concerning the complex web of relations enmeshing the United States, the Greater Middle East (the Middle East, north and east Africa, and central Asia) and the terrorist threat to U.S. persons and interests that has emerged from that region in recent decades. Initially intended to point researchers to materials specifically concerning the events of 11 September 2001, the bibliography has grown to over 700 pages of entries representing a range of materials that, while spread across several decades and across large geographical regions, cannot be divorced from the phenomenon of terrorist acts committed against the U.S. ( continued [All reports are in the Adobe PDF format , and open in a new window. Libraries J. W. Martin Library - Alva
Located near the center of the Alva campus, the J. W. Martin Library houses more than one million books, bound journals, government publications, and microfilm items. Complementing these holdings are more than 500 print journal/periodical subscriptions. An online catalog and online databases facilitate quick, efficient access to library materials. Professional librarians, paraprofessionals, and part-time student assistants are available to help students during the hours the library is open each week. Library hours are also posted at the front entrance. The library is closed when the university is not in session. Once enrolled, students can receive an ID card from Student Services. The ID card must be presented each time a loan is made from the library. Students are responsible for all material borrowed on their ID card. Students may renew their loans online or at the library. Fines are assessed for overdue books and if unpaid will lead to a hold on future enrollment and transcripts. Any physically handicapped students who require assistance to gain access to the building and/or to retrieve materials may contact the circulation assistant in the library.

The H.G. Bennett Memorial Library has served as a selective depository of U.S. Government Information since 1929. There are over 76,000 items presently in the collection. Selected materials of particular interest or lasting value are integrated into the general or reference collections. Other print materials are in Room L203 on Floor 2A. Government documents are arranged alphabetically and then numerically by SuDoc class number. Each number begins with a letter or letter representing the agency that issued the item. For example, materials issued by the Department of Education begin with ED. The H.G. Bennett Memorial Library became an Oklahoma Depository in 1998. We now receive all of the Oklahoma government agency publications distributed by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. This collection is located on the southeast wall of the main floor. Both GovDoc and Oklahoma microfiche are shelved in the northwest corner of the main floor.

SIRS to Unveil Library Print of Oklahoma Library at Oklahoma Library Association Conference
Boca Raton, FL, March 24, 2003
SIRS Publishing, Inc. will be unveiling the tenth library print in the SIRS Celebrates America's Public Libraries Collection at Oklahoma Library Association Conference "All Conference Event" on the evening of Thursday, March 27th at 7:00 p.m. Three years ago, SIRS initiated this series of fine prints to recognize and honor the essential role public libraries play in our culture. Today, many of these prints grace the walls of school and public libraries across the country. “I know I speak for all of the members of the White House Conference on Library and Information Services Taskforce (WHSLIST) when I express my appreciation to SIRS. Many of our members have the prints framed and hang them in their homes, their offices or libraries. Thank you, again, for your concept of the prints and especially for sharing them with me and others who are strong advocates for free public libraries.” Sara Jane Cate, Former Chairwoman, WHCLIST Visit SIRS Booth #601 to enter a raffle to win a framed copy of the print signed by the artist, Joe Davis. Complimentary prints and notecards will also be available at the SIRS Booth.
