RESIDENCE DIRECTORS' PERSONAL GREETINGS
Courtney Lewellen (Kerr Residence Director) Hello and welcome to OBU and Kerr! This is my first year as the RD at Kerr. Since graduating from OBU in 1997, I have been a Spanish teacher and an office manager for a computer consulting firm. I have recently completed my Master's degree in School Counseling from NSU. I've just moved back to Bison Hill from Tulsa. I'm big on family (especially my adorable nephew Ethan!), animals (I love labs! I had three - one of each color), and TLC programming! Some of my responsibilities as RD include getting to know my residents, supervising the RA staff, and maintaining this fabulous facility we all call our home away from home. My goal for this year is to encourage your growth and development in each area of your life: intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual. Feel free to stop by to see me in my office. I can't wait to get know each of you. I'm excited about what God has in store for all of us at Kerr this year.

    http://www.sedl.org/rel/partners.html
SEDL is joining the Charles A. Dana Center of The University of Texas at Austin and American Indian Research and Development (AIRD), Inc., in Norman, Oklahoma, to work intensively with 60 school and district sites across the South and Southwest. SEDL staff and partners are helping schools and districts assess needs, as well as create and share the know-how to focus improvement efforts on reading and mathematics instructional programs. While SEDL brings significant expertise in reading, school change, and school-level work to the partnership, the Dana Center contributes experience in mathematics, policy, and district-level work. AIRD staff provides knowledge in working with Native American populations. Active involvement of the five chief state school officers as well as other state education agency staff in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas is essential to REL work. They are responsible for establishing the criteria and procedures for determining the performance status of schools. They also control many of the resources available in each state to support the transformation of low-performing schools into high-performing learning communities. SEDL knows that improvements at the school level will not be sustained without support from the district level. In addition, districts that learn to work successfully with one or two low-performing schools will be able to transfer the knowledge and skills to other low-performing schools.

Previous Page New Arrivals for Busy Educators: Accountable Teacher Evaluation This book is a call to action for K-12 and community college instructional administrators. Its message is compelling: supervisory evaluation of teaching is generally lacking and this needs to be corrected-fast! Based on extensive research and experience, Hans Andrews presents a convincing case for why reform of faculty evaluation practices, improvement strategies and reward processes is needed. Simply stated, students deserve it and the public demands it. Using case studies and examples from the field, the author provides theory and practice that can be adapted at the local level to ensure that teachers perform effectively in the classroom over their entire career. S ome things are "for grown ups only!" This book is one of those things. The allusions used in these exercises refer to a historical scope of literary readings, TV shows, movies, songs, and personalities that will maintain the interest of adults in the classroom.
