Abduction Experiences in Latin America It is curious that while instances of alleged abduction by UFO aliens are rife in North America, they should be considerably less virulent in the Spanish-speaking regions of the world. Cincinnati Ballpark Sighting The UFO sighting happened in downtown Cincinnati (Hamilton County) on April 28, 1998, while a Cincinnati Reds baseball game was in progress. Beavercreek, Ohio Sighting The first thing noticed by the witnesses was a low-pitched hum that was unfamiliar to them. J. Allen Hynek –

Fillmore first came to Cincinnati to study medicine, but turned to the ministry of the Christian Disciple Church. His talents as a singer and composer served him well in his evangelistic vocation. He published his first book, The Christian Psalmist
Jump to: Watch meeting Color chromolithograph.
Changes in religious life paralleled the changes in family life. Between 1776 and 1820 American religion changed from a hierarchically-run to a participant-run activity with revivals and competition among denominations. The Puritans' inscrutable, angry God was replaced by a loving, comforting Jesus. The sacred songs of the time reflect these changes as they address human emotion rather than religious doctrine. The Concordia , compiled by the Reverend Augustus Dameron Fillmore (1823-1870), contains several excellent examples of this shift. In The Concordia , Fillmore offers several of his own rustic musical compositions that suggest a self-taught evangelistic musician rather than a polished musical academician. He provided musical settings for both well-known hymn texts and his own original poems. Among his own more bucolic and individualistic musical settings, he also included numerous relatively refined pieces such as "Ives." The Concordia Play Audio View Sheet Music

The Song Messenger and assistant in the writing and publishing department. In 1871 he returned to Andover to work as a music teacher, and he also became an active temperance worker. In 1881, Murray joined the John Church Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, to work as the editor for The Musical Visitor and to be in charge of the publishing department. Murray died in Cincinnati on March 10, 1905.
Jump to: The fruits of temperance Temperance songs appeared regularly in all types of nineteenth-century popular songbooks. Supporters of the temperance movement believed poor health, poverty, crime and general moral degradation were the direct results of alcohol consumption. Temperance songs, poems and hymns often painted sensational and even dire scenarios of negligent, alcoholic fathers causing domestic strife. (In contrast, the Currier and Ives illustration to the right, The Fruits of Temperance , shows that the end result of temperance is a happy family.) The earliest temperance groups were founded in Europe in the 18th century, but their influence soon spread, and the first American temperance society was formed in Saratoga, N.Y., in 1808. Some early temperance societies were proponents of moderation in alcohol consumption, but as the movement grew, total rejection of alcohol became the more accepted norm. Founded in Ohio in 1893, the Anti-Saloon League was one of the most effective temperance societies and lobbied for uncompromising federal enforcement of Prohibition (1919-1933).

    Archbold Community Library
in Archbold, Ohio has been changing for the better since its founding 85 years ago. So when the library had an opportunity to join the Ohio Statewide Resource Sharing Project, Library Director Joyce Klingelsmith was ready for another change a new automation system that would enable the library's participation in the statewide project. "We needed to have our catalog available on the Web (for the project). That meant we either had to upgrade our Galaxy VAX system or go with another system. Upgrading Galaxy was not cost effective for us. We chose Library .Solution ," she said. Ms. Klingelsmith found Library.Solution's ease of use particularly attractive. "Library.Solution seems easy to learn and use, which cuts down on staff frustration. We like the ability to view item status on the first screen in an OPAC search, and we like YouSeeMore (its online catalog). Our patrons are going to love the ability to view their patron account information, place reserves, and create their own personal home page on YouSeeMore - all from the comfort of their home," she said. Archbold is one of 21 libraries that have migrated from Gaylord Galaxy to Library.Solution.

Ohio Library Celebrates 200th Year 200 years ago, in what is now Athens County, the settlers used their community spirit and wilderness skills to acquire books and establish a collection that became known as The Cookskin Library.
In the early 1800's, several residents of Ames, Ohio collected animal furs, including many raccoon furs, and sold these for money to buy books with. The Coonskin Library, originally known as the Western Library Association, opened in February of 1804.
In this bicentennial year of the library's opening, fourth grader's from the Amesville Elementary School are putting on a one-act play to commemorate the event.
