  • 2 Ohio school librarians received the ESEA/NCLB Improving Literacy through School Libraries grant (Margaret J. Ford, Campbell City Schools and Lowell Howard, New Boston School District). Leadership for School Libraries was awarded a grant through IMLS and SLO to create a video (Your School Library- Its All About Learning) which promoted the role of school libraries in academic achievement. L4SL identified themes for the video, along with real school library actors and actresses from all over Ohio. The video was given to all K-12 public school districts in Ohio. Linda Cornette served as L4SL coordinator of the project. She organized the shooting of the video and editing (from 9 hours to 8 minutes). Without Linda- this video would have never been completed! OELMA served as the fiscal agent, which was a great help because L4SL can receive grants and decide what to do with the money- we just can’t write the checks! 23 school librarians served on the Ohio School Library Committee. They gave-up Saturdays and evenings to revise the draft Guidelines for Effective School Library Media Programs and to prepare them for statewide public engagement.
