Amendments to the Student Code of Conduct Policy Purpose The university has a clear responsibility in the area of student conduct to protect and promote the pursuit of the Ohio University goals. Students are expected to obey federal, state, and local laws, and in addition, must abide by the rules and regulations of the university. The Student Code of Conduct sets forth those acts which constitute unacceptable conduct for graduate and undergraduate students of the university while on university-owned or controlled property. All alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct may result in referral to the director of judiciaries. The university does, in addition, reserve the right, for educational purposes, to review any action taken by civil authorities regarding students. Although ordinarily the university will not impose further sanctions after law enforcement agencies have disposed of the case, it does have the obligation to introduce counseling and/or disciplinary action if the student's conduct has interfered with the university's exercise of its educational objectives or responsibilities to its members.
