Ohio State Regulations
In Ohio, there are two parts to the "law". One is the Ohio Revised Code that contains laws as passed by the legislature. The other is the Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) that contains regulations put into place by various state departments as authorized by the legislature. The Home Education Regulations are part of this latter Administrative Code, and were put into place by the State Board of Education to provide clear regulations. This brief history may be helpful. The section of the OAC that applies to home education is section 3301-34. Adopted in 1989, it is titled "Rules for Excuses from Compulsory Attendance for Home Education." It specifies that a child may be excused from compulsory attendance for a number of reasons, one of which is that they are being instructed at home. This excuse is granted by the local superintendent. Here is a local copy of the regulations. You should become

Governing the Operation of Degree-Granting
For-Profit Institutions of Higher Education March 2000
Abstract
The Education Commission of the States (ECS) surveyed 11 states to inquire about regulations governing the operation of degree-granting for-profit institutions of higher education. Based on the survey results, for-profit institutions are not singled out in the regulatory process. For-profit institutions undergo similar application reviews to those required of private nonprofit institutions (with the exception of providing supplemental forms on shareholders). While most states, however, provide some form of financial assistance to students attending for-profit institutions, it is not on the same level as the aid available to public and private nonprofit institutions.
Introduction
With the rapid growth of for-profit institutions of higher education, many questions arise about quality, competition, market models and appropriate public policy. The Education Commission of the States (ECS), with a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, undertook a descriptive study of the growth and impact of for-profit institutions that grant degrees. As part of that study, ECS asked 11 state agency leaders with large for-profit sectors and markets to share information on how they regulate these institutions of higher education. As for-profit institutions grow in number and size, public agencies charged with oversight and consumer-protection responsibilities must respond within existing legal frameworks. The purpose of the study was to determine if and how these frameworks are changing.

Environmental Management Systems and Pollution Prevention
Introduction
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a continual cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing and improving the actions that an organization takes to meet its environmental obligations. An EMS is used to improve an organization’s environmental performance and should be able to be objectively verified. Although an organizations management does not have to be certified in order for it to be considered an EMS, some organizations seek to obtain certification for their EMS. Some industries, such as the automotive industry, are encouraging certification of their suppliers. This may be done by using ISO 14000 as a guide to form the EMS and then working through a registrar to gain the certification. According to ISO 14001, the EMS must contain an environmental policy which states that the organization will implement the prevention of pollution, continual improvement and environmental compliance. The organization must identify environmental aspects of its operations and determine the impact they have on the environment. Ohio EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention has taken a significant interest in encouraging companies to development an EMS since they focus around environmental compliance and the prevention of pollution. The Office of Pollution Prevention is committed to assisting organizations with reducing the waste at its source. As such, we offer our aid to organizations in their continual improvement to find ways to reduce their waste and prevent the pollution at its source. OPP can assist by providing technical information and conducting on-site assessments. For more information see
