OHIO ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FUND GENERAL GRANT PROGRAM
Ohio Environmental Education Fund
Introduction On July 2, 1990, Governor Celeste signed House Bill 804 into law, creating the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and the Ohio Environmental Education Fund Board of Trustees, which is now known as the Ohio Environmental Education Fund Advisory Council . House Bill 804, which also created the Lake Erie Office and the Lake Erie Protection Fund, had broad-based backing from Ohio’s industrial, environmental and education communities. The law, which was effective October 1, 1990, is an exciting landmark for environmental education in Ohio. It creates the opportunity for educators, environmental organizations, industrial organizations and others to increase the awareness and understanding all Ohioans need to work together to solve the complex environmental problems affecting our lives and the lives of future Ohioans. Environmental Education Fund Monies credited to the Environmental Education Fund consist of half of all penalties collected by Ohio EPA air and water pollution control programs, as well as gifts, grants, and contributions. The Director of Ohio EPA, under the advice and assistance of the Advisory Council, may award grants totaling in excess of $1 million annually. The fund must be used to enhance the public’s awareness and understanding about issues affecting environmental quality in Ohio. House Bill 804 does not limit the type of environmental education projects which can receive funding, but it does mention the following eligible activities:

AGC of Ohio originated from the idea that construction associations from around the state needed unified and strong representation in the legislative arena. Who better to represent monitor contractor's rights than a contractor's association?
The Associated General Contractors of Ohio is a commercial construction trade association governed and directed by contractors. The association has been in existence for more than thirty years and its membership is comprised of the top general contractors in the Ohio area, in addition to quality subcontractors and suppliers. AGC of Ohio is a full service AGC Chapter and is chartered by the AGC of America, a national trade association located in Alexandria, Virginia. Its structure in Ohio includes seven self-funded, self-governed organizations in the major metropolitan construction markets throughout the state.
As construction's chief statewide spokesperson, AGC has an unmatched record of pushing pro-industry legislation in Ohio. In essence, this is what the Ohio AGC association is about contractors of skill, responsibility and integrity upholding ethical practices in the construction industry. Thank you for visiting the General Education Website! The calendar issue has been settled. Ohio University will remain on the quarter calendar. We will be able to implement the new general education program according to its original quarter-calendar design. Computer Services are in the process of debugging and enhancing the Web-based proposal system. The system will be ready and functioning by mid-August. The target for implementation is Fall 2006, a more realistic date than Fall 2005. Under the new program, general education at Ohio University is no longer a subset of "gened courses" taught by a subset of faculty; rather, courses taught throughout the undergraduate curriculum by a majority of the faculty will have some gened role. The new target date will give the faculty the time they need to learn about the program. There is not a lot of time, however, even with the new date. We expect the application process to begin in earnest in Fall 2004 and to up to implementation. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we build a better Website. We value your comments, questions and suggestions. Please email your feedback to gened@www.ohiou.edu
