    http://www.propertyrightsresearch.org/statement_by_atmospheric_scienti.htm
Statement by Atmospheric Scientists on Greenhouse Warming February 27, 1992 WASHINGTON, D.C. - As independent scientists, researching atmospheric and climate problems, we are concerned by the agenda for UNCED, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, being developed by environmental activist groups and certain political leaders. This so-called Earth Summit is scheduled to convene in Brazil in June 1992 and aims to impose a system of global environmental regulations, including onerous taxes on energy fuels, on the population of the United States and other industrialized nations. Such policy initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories. They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuels and requires immediate action. We do not agree. A survey of U.S. atmospheric scientists, conducted in the summer of 1991, confirms that there is no consensus about the cause of the slight warming observed during the past century. A recently published research paper even suggests that sunspot variability, rather than a rise in greenhouse gases, is responsible for the global temperature increases and decreases recorded since about 1880. Furthermore, the majority of scientific participants in the survey agreed that the theoretical climate models used to predict a future warming cannot be relied upon and are not validated by the existing climate record. Yet all predictions are based on such theoretical models.

CLOSE Newsletter http://geosciedu.org/ Geoscience Education Division Newsletter, Summer 2003 A Quick Note from Your Newsletter Editor The only downside to this is something many of us are experiencing even in tenure-track positions: classes with huge enrollments and the pressure to increase those head counts. For example, I will be teaching a section of World Regional Geography that is so large (~400), we do not have a big enough lecture hall on campus. So I will be teaching it in the movie theaters at the local mall! To that, add a telecourse with 600-1000 students, and a third course with "only" 150. (I will truly cherish my fourth course, a grad seminar of five or six!) This trend is being repeated throughout the state university system in Florida. Providing quality instruction under these circumstances will certainly be a challenge. As always, if you have inquiries, suggestions or news items to contribute, please e-mail them to me at Mark R. People Tree: Community Consultant Directory
Our primary objective is to create awareness of the services of consultants who are currently doing work for the communities. This directory may prove useful for finding independent consultants for the Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) program, the Technical Assistance for Public Participation (TAPP) program, or similar programs. To help you identify which experts are likely to be able to help you, we list with each consultant the technologies she/he is most familiar with as well as other areas of specialty. We don't guarantee that these consultants can offer the assistance you need. The only way to find out is for you to contact them directly and ask questions. The Community Consultant Directory is not an endorsement of the consultants listed. It is a guide, not a final decision-making tool for your search. Due to privacy issues we are unable to list consultant references on this site. If you are considering the services of any consultant in this directory, please ask her/him for 'community' references. If you have any questions or concerns about the Community Consultant Directory or would like to recommend a consultant be added, please feel free to contact CPEO at 202.452.8038 or e-mail us at
