What's the difference between a Poster, a Photo, and an Art Print? A. Good question! The difference is usually in the paper quality and the exclusivity. Wall posters are printed in large volume on less expensive paper, Art Prints are printed on higher-quality thicker paper and usually in lower quantity. Photos prints are similar to what you get when you take your own film to a high quality photo developer, the only drawback to photo prints are that they are usually fairly small (8x10) the advantage is that they are very economical! floor (continental shelves, slopes, and rises; ocean basins), then let s look at the general depth zones Penguin Note ocean life is vital to us land dwellers!
http://www.glacier.rice.edu/oceans/4_oceanfloorpieces.html
Before we can understand the importance of the Antarctic oceanic circulation, we must understand the general oceanic circulation patterns of the globe. Remember, all of our oceans are interconnected!
First, let's define the distinct areas of the ocean floor (continental shelves, slopes, and rises; ocean basins), then let's look at the general depth zones of the ocean (surface, pycnocline, and deep waters).
continental shelf - the submerged top of the continent's edge between the shoreline and the continental slope. The shelf is made more shallow by deposition of material eroded
continental slope Sedimentary material on the continental slope is very unstable because of the steep gradient.
continental rise - at the base of the continental slope. It is a depositional feature, comprised of sediment that has moved down off the shelf and slope. The rise overlies the transition between the continent and the ocean basin, and it commonly receives material slumped off the steeply inclined slope.
Cross-section of the ocean showing the continental shelf, slope, and rise, and the abyssal plain (modified from Davis, 1991). The lower drawing shows the depth change at the true scale.
continental margin - includes the continental shelf, slope and rise. The continental margins comprise about 21% of the total ocean!

Message ID: 843315831.Mi Hi These new life forms are very fascinating because they are so different from what we usually encounter. The way it works is, most bacteria (and living things in general) eat food derived from photosynthetic plants. But there are some bacteria that can use certain minerals (mainly sulfur compounds) as their energy source. In the deep sea there are volcanic vents that give off sulfur-containing compounds from deep within the earth. After bacteria start to grow around the vents, then other life forms arrive to eat the bacteria. Because of the tremendous pressure and almost complete lack of organic materials in the deep sea, the ways in which these organisms function is quite far off the beaten path! There have been quite a few articles on these in the biologic and general literature in the last few years. One of the scientists involved is Robert Ballard. Thanks for the question!

The diversity of planktonic foraminifera, one-celled animals that float in the ocean, is greatest in the middle latitudes. A recent discovery may encourage biologists, ecologists and evolutionists to question some long-standing beliefs about species diversity in the ocean. In an article published in the August 19 issue of Nature, University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography paleoceanographers Scott Rutherford and Steven D'Hondt with Brown University paleoceanographer Warren Prell show that the diversity of planktonic foraminifera, one-celled zooplankton that float in the ocean, is greatest in the middle latitudes. Comparison of their results to other studies suggests that this is true of zooplankton in general. All of the microscopic animals that float in the ocean appear to be most diverse at middle latitudes. "The traditional view of all biodiversity (both marine and terrestrial) is that diversity peaks at the equator and continually declines toward the poles," said Rutherford. Their study runs counter to the traditional model.

Preface Chapter 1 : THEOSOPHY AND THE MASTERS ( Theosophy generally defined. The existence of highly developed men in the Universe. These men are the Mahatmas, Initiates, Brothers, Adepts. How they work and why they remain now concealed. Their Lodge. They are perfected men from other periods of evolution. They have had various names in history. Apollonius, Moses, Solomon, and others were members of this fraternity. They had one single doctrine. They are possible because man may at last be as they are. They keep the true doctrine and cause it to reappear at the right time. Chapter 2 : GENERAL PRINCIPLES ( Chapter 3 : THE EARTH CHAIN ( The doctrine respecting the Earth. It is sevenfold also. It is one of a chain of seven corresponding to man. The whole seven are not in a chain separated as to members, but they interpenetrate each other. The Earth chain is the reincarnation of a former old and now dead chain. This old chain was one of which our moon is the visible representative. Moon now dead and contracting. Venus, Mars, etc., are living members of other similar chains to ours. A mass of Egos for each chain. The number, though incalculable, is definite. Their course of evolution through the seven globes. In each a certain part of our nature is developed. At the fourth globe the process of condensation is begun and reaches its limit.
