Hunter Education Program
North Dakota law requires persons born after 1961 to complete a certified hunter education course and show proof of certification when purchasing or applying for hunting licenses. Official courses offered by other states and Canadian provinces meet these requirements. North Dakota's14-hour (minimum) hunter education course focuses on safety, ethics, knowledge of laws and regulations, and basic wildlife biology. Students are encouraged to be at least 11 years old to attend and be certified. Youngsters should inquire early in the year to assure course completion before upcoming hunting seasons or license application deadlines. Most classes are taught in the first half of the year. Courses are taught by volunteer, certified hunter education instructors. Note : Adults exempt under North Dakota law may need the course prior to applying for licenses or hunting in other states. Colorado requires it of persons born after 1948; and, it is needed by everyone hunting Wyoming's National Elk Range. Planning to hunt another state? Check out their requirements well in advance to ensure yourself time to arrange for a North Dakota course. For more information about courses or to learn how to become a volunteer instructor, contact Hunter Education, North Dakota Game and Fish Department, 100 N. Bismarck Expressway, Bismarck, ND 58501-5095 or call 701-328-6615.

Join NDEA MAP Team Today We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated NDEA members who would be interested in learning a new program to move our schools and our association forward. We want to increase our membership by asking each potential member face-to-face to belong. It's fun, it's easy, and it doesn't take a lot of time. "It's as simple as 1,2,3," says Greg Redden, President of Forward Concepts. "We will build a team of Membership Advocates in North Dakota by selecting people who have enthusiasm for the association. Here are the simple steps:" We provide these Membership Advocates with the tools and techniques to be effective recruiters. 1. We give these Membership Advocates expectations and incentives to succeed. 2. We have these Advocates train assoc. reps in their local to recruit more advocates. 3. We give each Advocate specific targets and goals in their local.

Teacher of Year Program General Guidelines and Instructions:
The classroom teacher is the backbone of the American educational system. No one person has a greater impact on the education of a child than does the teacher who creates the primary learning and instructional environment. It is the mission of the State and National Teacher of the Year Programs to recognize and honor the contributions of classroom teachers. NDEA, in conjunction with the Council of Chief State School Officers and Scholastic, Inc. is a sponsor of the State and National Teacher of the Year Programs. The program is the oldest and most prestigious honors program to focus public attention on excellence in teaching. Nomination:
Nominations for North Dakota Teacher of the Year must come from a teacher, school administrator, school district trustee, local education association, student or parent. Individual North Dakota schools may nominate a candidate, which means systems with more than one school may nominate more than one candidate. Administrators, county superintendents or their designees, and local association presidents will receive nomination forms in the mail in early March. Nominations are due by the end of April of each year.
