n Friday 1 November 2002, my eldest son Kristian, aged 20, tragically died. He left behind a one-year-old daughter, Kayla. His most outstanding qualities were his compassion, forgiveness and concern for those less fortunate than himself. 43. The INTERNET WRITING WORKSHOP
Join various mailing list workshops such as poetry, fiction, flash fiction, romance, novels, and nonfiction. Post and receive critiques of work, plus critique other works. Discuss the finer points of writing.
http://www.manistee.com/~lkraus/workshop/index.html
Internet Writing Workshop WHAT IS THE INTERNET WRITING WORKSHOP? The Writing Workshop exists for two primary purposes:
  - To create an environment where Works In Progress can be passed around and critiqued, to help us improve these works and to improve as writers.
  - To give people interested in writing professionally a support group  where information can be shared and various aspects of writing can be discussed.
The Workshop is open to all styles and genres of writing:  literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, children's writing, essays, newspaper articles, scripts, you name it.  Members do not need to be published writers, only to be serious about writing and about wanting to improve.
Because these are workshops, membership is restricted to participating members.  Group or anonymous memberships are not allowed.
The key word in the Writing Workshop is "Workshop".  Every member is expected to take an active part in the proceedings.  We are here to become better writers, not to watch each other.  If you don't take an active part in these lists, you will be dropped from the membership.
Works are submitted for criticism only.  Submission is not considered  publication.  The fact that the list membership consists of active,  participating *writers* acts to support this consideration.

My Secret Way of Traveling
By Kathy, 9, Surrey, B.C., Canada Have you ever dreamed of going to the ancient times? I have. And one day my dream did come true. I would like to share some of my thoughts about the many great times I had.
My favorite trip is to Ancient Egypt to see the great pyramid of Giza. It is the one and only Wonder that is still standing. It is also the oldest.
You won’t believe what I saw and what I did! I saw ten people pulling 1 huge stone brick up the spiral ramp of the pyramid. The ramp was covered with mud so it would be easy to push and pull in to place. All the people seemed so tired. I decided to help. And it was not a good idea. By the time I had finished, I was covered in mud and stressed out. But I was proud, for one of the bricks on the pyramid might just be the one I helped put on.
When the pyramid was built, it was 481 feet high and 751 ft in length! The most fascinating fact was that it took a 20-year period to finish!

Unknown Seas: How Vasco da Gama Opened the East
Published by John Murray in the U.K., Canada and Australia The truth of the matter is that many professional writers supplement their income by ghostwriting projects for others. Until now it's been one of the best kept secrets in publishing and finding a reliable and experienced ghostwriter has been a matter of knowing the right person or blind luck. Not anymore. Perhaps you have a true story that needs telling. You may have suffered an injustice and require a ghostwriter to work with you, to walk you through the process of gathering the necessary information. The ghostwriter will then turn your story into a professionally written book. If there is a novel burning within you but you don't have the time or way with words to write it, we have ghostwriters who can. If you've lead, or survived, an extraordinary life, this is your opportunity to document it.

Have lunch with one of Canada 's most famous authors for both adults and children, join in the conversation on writing and story-telling, and get a taste of his newest book, My Father's Son. We met in a small cafe in downtown Toronto, about a block from Union Stationand I can now say that I've done "the lunch thing" with Farley Mowat. You may not be impressed, but I sure was, because, you see, I grew up with Mutt, the Owls, Happy Adventure , and the wolves. Meeting the man who had actually lived (and written about) all these stories was exciting. We ate lunch and talked about families (he and Claire split their year between a farm in Cape Breton and Port Hope, Ontario); about dogs (two of their dogs "perished" (his word, not mine) last year; they now have just the one); and about writing (specifically, his new book, My Father's Son My Father's Son is Mowat's thirty-first book and his third look back at World War II, following and And No Birds Sang and The Regiment . The book is a collection of letters written from 1943 to 1945 between Farley and his parents, Angus and Helen.

This is the genuine, official, Karl Lassiter web page.
Does Karl Lassiter really exist? Only in the fecund mind of author Robert E. Vardeman. Karl Lassiter is one of the western pen names I use in my writing. A separate science fiction and fantasy page details my forays into those fields, but it amused me to start with a web page for someone who does not exist.
