Adult New Reader/English as a Second Language Collections
The Adult New Reader Collection is designed to aid adults who need assistance with their reading and writing skills; it includes workbooks, grammar aids, and light fiction and nonfiction on a variety of subjects. Topics range from health care, sports, history, and geography, to job skills, hobbies, and handling money. The English as a Second Language Collection is comprised of grammar books, special picture dictionaries, information on U.S. citizenship, and study manuals for those preparing to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) . This material is popular with literacy tutors, as well as newer immigrants to the Greater Cincinnati area.

English Table of Contents ALL ENGLISH CLASSES MUST HAVE CURRENT ENGLISH TEACHER SIGNATURE ELP English 7 (1.0 credit) Grade 7 This course compacts the 7th and 8th grade curriculum in order to put students on the International Baccalaureate track. Emphasis is on the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening; advanced thinking skills including knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation; grammar, usage and standardized spelling and punctuation is taught in the context of individual student writing; acquiring advanced vocabulary and critical literary analysis. Main units are fiction, prose, short stories, novels and student-produced children's books or short stories; drama with student plays; poetry and student-produced poetry anthologies. State Core standards are met in this curriculum for 7th and 8th grades.
