Assembly Language Step-by-step: Programming with DOS and Linux (with CD-ROM) [amazon]
    by Jeff Duntemann
    paperback, 613 pages
Publisher: Wiley 2nd edition, May 24, 2000 "So, having worked my way up to the good stuff, I find myself faced with a tricky conundrum. Programming involves two major components of the PC: the CPU and memory. Most books begin by choosing one or the other and describing it. My own opinion is that you can't really describe memory and memory addressing without describing the CPU, and you can't really describe the CPU without going into memory and memory addressing. So let's do both at once." - pg 157 The Waite Group's Microsoft MacRo Assembler Bible [amazon]
    by Nabajyoti Barkakati
    paperback, 952 pages
Publisher: Sams 2nd edition, June 1992 Not good introduction, but very good reference. [my opinion] Mastering Turbo Debugger by Tom Swan paperback, 618 pages

Emotional Support on the Internet V1.36
    27 September 2001
    (C) Steve Harris 2001 steveha@cix.compulink.co.uk
New: Seach Engine for this list and many more resources - see http://www.netservs.com/care/
    What this list is
This is a list of resources for *emotional* support on the Internet and interconnected systems. It is intended to help you find and use these groups. Please do *not* mass mail this list for *any* reason at all.
Groups and resources with a focus on information giving, campaigning academic study or advocacy are not listed. Some groups are not listed because I know that they *can* be too rough on people seeking support. On the other hand, I have not been able to give all these groups a full "road test".
PLEASE LET ME KNOW of errors, changes etc. steveha@cix.compulink.co.uk
    Anonymity and Privacy
The growth of web-based email services such as Hotmail means that anonymity is even easier than it used to be. Consider getting a free alternative email address from www.hotmail.com or www.yahoo.com just for use when using support groups.

    Distributed Computing
    • a page from the site above containing active distributed computing projects
    • j - I've found mindpixel to be an interesting project. It is not, however, a conventional distributed computing project, as utilizing "wasted" processing power to carry out mathematical instructions on electron-powered circuits. Instead they look at processing power designed using a mostly sodium and potassium powered circuitry, read "the human brain." I know, nothing really new at making many people work on a task. They are working on developing an AI mind, created by humans talking and interacting with it. Interesting project, at least I thought so anyway.
