Giving New Zealand a winning chance
The New Zealand Academy of Sport was established by the New Zealand Sports Foundation in August 2000. Becoming a winning athlete takes a great deal of time, effort, dedication and determination; to produce a nation of champions requires expertise, investment, and coordination of specialist services and resources. The New Zealand Academy of Sport is here to support athletes and their coaches by providing the latest in sport science services, sports medicine, and personal development guidance and education/career services. The Academy provides a pathway for junior through to elite athletes to access the expertise and facilities they need to get to the top and stay at the top. The Academy seeks to harness New Zealand's passion for sporting success and channel this energy to support our athletes in their preparation to compete with the best in the world. To take the talents of our many gifted athletes to the world stage, New Zealand needs to show true support for their endeavour. This means doing more than cheering and applauding. It means providing our athletes and coaches with the expertise and support that their counterparts abroad take for granted.

ICANZ supports Association submission on the affects of the proposed International Financial Reporting Standards on co-operatives. Members, see "Industry Issues" pages in your area of web site for full details.
One of the outcomes from the one-day seminar on 14 April 2004 in Wellington attended by 28 co-operative representatives, was that a submission be made on behalf of Association Members on the impact of IAS 32 for co-operatives, and seeking an exemption from this standard applying to co-operatives. The seminar urged the Association to engage professional advisors to ensure the submission was of the highest standard to represent our case.
