WHEN 'VOCATIONAL SCHOOL' IS A MISNOMER
I write to correct the characterization of New York Institute of Technology as a ''vocational'' school in ''Steve Jobs, movie mogul'' ( Cover Story, Nov. 23 ). NYIT is a comprehensive, regional, multi-accredited college. More than 100 academic disciplines and programs are offered by NYIT's eight schools, leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees. In addition to campuses located on Long Island and in New York City and satellite campuses in Florida, the college has a strong and growing international presence, with programs in Taiwan and China. As you noted, NYIT's rich research history gave rise to many technology-based activities, such as computer graphics. Matthew Schure, President

The ceremony, which began as "Ivy Day" back in the mid 1920's, included a parade and planting ivy alongside the building. Each year, the graduating class plants a tree to honor their class's memories of Fanwood. This year's Senior Class theme is "Life: Imagine the Possibilies." To see more photos and a slide show of the day, CLICK HERE Four students of the freshmen class are each working on a video production with English teacher Mrs. DiYanni and Director of the Instructional Media Center TV Studio, Mr. Potanovic. The students have developed their story ideas and structure for the video using "storyboards" 4x6 index cards, used for writing and drawing individual ideas on paper. The storyboard allows ideas to be arranged and refined as necessary. To see more photos, please click here . For more information about class video productions, contact
