February 18, 2004 Dear Friends, I want to invite you to look at my new web page. In an effort to keep you more informed about the issues that you and I both care about, I felt it was time to do a little construction work on this site. In the coming weeks you will be able to access more information with more ease. I have included up-to-date press releases to keep you informed about the latest work I am doing in Richmond. Also there are direct links to the General Assembly Website as well as a few easier ways to contact my staff and myself. We have been doing a lot of good work in the past month to make Virginia an even better place to live. I promise to continue to keep you informed about this work and the issues that you and I feel are important to our district. I appreciate your support and promise that I am working hard in Richmond for the entire state of Virginia, especially the 1st district.

Here’s where to find 3548 of them. Please join us in a project to bring together new york City s blogs The new york City Blogger Map.
http://www.nycbloggers.com/
There are a million blogs in the naked city.
Please join us in a project to bring together New York City's blogs:
The New York City Blogger Map
The idea is simple:

A map of the city that shows where the bloggers are, organized by subway stop. Find out who's blogging in your neighborhood!
There are no rings to join, no code to put on your page. Just fill out this form to add your blog to the map.
You can click on the map to start exploring. The overview map will show you how many blogs are in each borough, and the borough maps will show you how many blogs are at each station. Click on the station to get the list of blogs. You can also browse by subway line, using the buttons on the right. And you can search for a specific blog by name using the search feature.

Hello 2004!

It's a new year and we're working on getting back on the ball and finally making some of those changes we've been talking about. Last year we foolishly decided that we had lives and now have an insane backlog of blogs to approve. Foolish, indeed.
This year we're working on having a balance between our lives and this site. We've started going through our backlog and are approving and modifying as fast as we can. Because we have quite a bit to catch up on, please allow at least two weeks for your blog changes / approval to take place. If after that time, you've still not gotten a notice from us, feel free to (politely) harrass

http://www.nycbeer.org/toc.html
There were 77 breweries in New York City in 1890. By 1910 the number had shrunk to 37. By the 1990's the number had slipped to just a couple. The popularity of microbrewed beer has grown considerably over the last few years and New York City is now host to several excellent brewers and brewpubs . The selection of good beers has increased to several hundred different choices in some stores and there are regularly scheduled beer tastings in the City. http://www.cenyc.org/
he Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC), founded in 1970, is a privately funded citizens' organization in the Office of the Mayor. CENYC promotes environmental awareness and solutions to environmental problems. Our programs: Open Space Greening Environmental Education and Waste Prevention and Recycling and other special projects make a positive and discernible difference in the lives and communities of New Yorkers from waste prevention by office employees, to water conservation and park cleanups by students, Greenmarkets in all five boroughs, and neighborhood open spaces resplendent with trees and flowers. CENYC reaches out to the public with information on noise pollution and abatement, alternatives to hazardous household products, and other issues. We also provide free or nominally priced publications which cover a variety of health and environmental topics. Grants and contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations support the work of the Council on the Environment and are gratefully received.

new york CITY SIGNS 14TH TO 42ND STREET. This site intends to survey all of the signs in new york City from 14th Street to 42nd Street.
http://www.14to42.net/
NEW YORK CITY SIGNS 14TH TO 42ND STREET This site intends to survey all of the signs in New York City from 14th Street to 42nd Street. Of course, this is not possible, since there would be tens of thousands of signs within this area. The 29 crosstown streets are each 10 to 11 blocks long (1st Ave. to 11th or 12th Aves.). This gives some 300 blocks, each containing, say, 100 signs of one type or another. This would total 30,000. Even if we eliminated the repetitive traffic signs (actually, each one is different, in setting if not otherwise), the remainder would probably be over 20,000 ... Since it is possible to display only a small fragment of these images, the site will contain only a few highlights of the signs in this prolific area. The emphasis is on vintage signs but not exclusively. My earliest photographs date from the mid 1980's. Many of these signs no longer exist. Documentation is supplied wherever available. Choose from the numbers below to select a street.

New York City Blackout as Photographed by John Wehr, Page 1
All of these photographs were taken by John Wehr (of Memeufacture and RFID News I was my room when the air conditioner gave out. My apartment isn't without technical quirks so I quickly made my way to the fuse box. Cursing that my building's power had failed I made my way to the street. My roommate Sarah came with me. We found mayhem. Broadway, a central North-South artery of Manhattan, is a good litmus test. I've walked down to find the street deserted (our huge snowstorm last winter) or in this case, crowded with hordes of cranky New Yorkers. You can see my house about a block down on the right. Overheard: "That jackass is taking pictures during a national emergency." The subways had stopped running so everyone had to walk. Taxis were rare.
