http://www.village.corrales.nm.us/library/contact.php
The Corrales Community Library functioned from 1957 to 1971 on a limited budget derived from fund-raising activities (silver teas, book and bake sales, card games, Casa tours, etc.) plus a yearly sum of money for books from Sandoval County. Since Village incorporation in 1972, it has been included in the Village budget, but the original building itself was built on Village land almost entirely by a volunteer force of Corrales residents. The Friends of the Corrales Library organized the building effort. An addition which now houses the children's collection was completed in 1993 with funds from various sources, including state and county funding. The library was staffed entirely by volunteers until 1979 when the librarian became a Village employee. At present the library has a staff of three librarians and over 60 volunteers. Our library is unique in having been supported by volunteers for so many years. We are grateful to the people of Corrales for making the library possible and for giving it their continuing support.

THE SOUTHWEST RESEARCH CENTER OF
NORTHERN NEW MEXICO
About the Center: The Southwest Research Center of Northern New Mexico opened its doors April 9, 1999, as the combined collections of Taos Historic Museums, Millicent Rogers Museum, and the Harwood Museum of Art.
Scholars interested in the wide spectrum of Northern New Mexico's art, history and culture now have a unique resource at their disposal.
In 1997 the Institute of Museum and Library Services created a new, comprehensive funding program called National Leadership Grants. One category, Model Programs of Library and Museum Cooperation, challenged these two related institutions to model collaborative projects to expand their service to the public with emphasis on how the community is served, technology is used or education is enhanced. A grant of $103,833, awarded in October 1998, allowed formation of a unique partnership of the Taos Historic Museums, the Harwood Museum of Art, and Millicent Rogers Museum with the University of New Mexico Zimmerman Library to combine staff, collections, and resources to create the Southwest Research Center.
Now housed in the 1,300 square foot wing of the Harwood Museum, over 12,500 publications focus on the art history, history, ethnology, and archaeology of the Southwest. The Research Center contains several unique historic collections such as those relating to the American Fur Trade, the adjudication of water rights in New Mexico, and the anthropological and archaeological library of Dr. John James Bodine.

New Mexico State Board Reports ST - 12 NEW MEXICO LIBRARY ASSOCIATION REPORT
TO THE MOUNTAIN PLAINS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
FEBRUARY 23, 2002 THE LIBRARY GO BOND BILL - HC 1327, the Library Bond Issue was heard before the House Capital Outlay Subcommittee on February 5. About 30 librarians and library supporters were on hand to show support for the bond proposal. Rep. Ed Sandoval, the Subcommittee Chairman and sponsor of HC 1327, moved the presentation to the beginning of the session because of the large number of people who came to hear it. As the bill's sponsor, he presented the proposal to the Committee, noting the importance of libraries in education a concern about outdated books in school libraries. He recognized the limitations of money available for general obligation bond projects, and said that the $35 million might have to be adjusted. Eileen Longsworth, Director of the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System, represented NMLA and the Library Bonds Task Force at the hearing. She stated that the proposal has a wide range of support among librarians, municipal officials, and educators, and assured the Committee that Governor Johnson had expressed a willingness to sign a proposal allowing voters to vote on the question. Before the Legislature adjourned on February 14, the Senate and the House concurred with the Senate amendments and sent the bill to the Governor. The text pertaining to libraries appears to has been revised, placing the school, academic and public library proposals in one bond issue question.. The amount for the three types of libraries is reported to be set at $16,080,000.
