Maternity Care Registered nurses, rehabilitation specialists, social workers, a nutritionist and other professionals work with new mothers to give them the care, support and information they need to successfully meet the challenges of motherhood. With a physician's referral, a registered nurse will contact the mother within 24 hours to arrange an initial home visit. During the first visit, the nurse will conduct a thorough assessment of mother and baby. If the physician has ordered any blood tests, the nurse will perform these procedures in the comfort of the patient's home, saving a trip to the hospital. Education on a variety of topics, including breastfeeding, bathing and communication is also conducted on the initial visit. Follow-up visits may be scheduled as needed. Nursing care is also available for women experiencing a high-risk pregnancy.
The birth of a baby is an exciting time for everyone in the family, and Valley Home Care encourages fathers, siblings and other loved ones to participate in the care and education of mother and infant.

Tuesday, November 25, 2003 Get Media Assistance Children's Health, Nutrition, Child Care to Suffer under New Governor's Thanksgiving Week Proposals Budget Approach Compares Unfavorably with Solutions in Other States Even as one in seven California children goes without health insurance, ranking California 45th among states in the rate of uninsured children, Schwarzenegger has proposed freezing enrollment in the state's Healthy Families program, which provides health care to children in low-income families at modest monthly premiums. During his election campaign, Schwarzenegger highlighted the need for uninsured children to be enrolled in the program and stated, "We have to make sure that every child in California is insured; that is the most important thing." Cuts in payments to health care providers under the Medi-Cal health insurance program also have been proposed, increasing the likelihood that poor families will be forced to seek care in emergency rooms or go without health services as doctors drop out of the program.
