I have been a "Family Tree Maker" user since it first came out around ten years ago.
I have been extensively researching two families and their related branches: my father's, the YADOFF family, and my mother's, the PIEKARSKY family.
YADOFF: (A spelling variation, thanks to the man at the Ellis Island check-in counter, is YODOFF.) My grandfather, Max, and his older brother Sam (YODOFF) came through Ellis Island from Tyvrov, Ukraine, sometime between 1905 and 1915, and settled in New York City. (I have yet to determine the exact date of arrival.) The Russian name they left behind was YADYKH. Max married Rebecca ULISS and eventually moved to Paterson, NJ where they raised a daughter, Dorothy (m. GREENBERG), and a son, Jerome (my father).
I have also extensively researched the ULISS family (sp var ULEIS) as there were seven (7) brothers and sisters that also immigrated in the early 1900's from Skvira, (Squara) Ukraine.
PIEKARSKY: My grandfather, Harry, was the fourth of six children born to Jacob and Sarah (nee GITKIN). They came to America in 1903 (give or take a year) from Yanov, Ukraine a small town near Vinnitsa and settled in Paterson, NJ. Harry married Rose GOLDRING, the youngest of six children from a family that immigrated in ~1903 from the Russia/Poland region. They had two daughters, Annette (my mother) and Joan (m. KESSEL).
