Welcome to Shapiro Library
The mission of Shapiro Library is to provide intellectual resources and facilitative services that support the teaching curriculum and comprehensive intellectual climate established by Southern New Hampshire University's schools, departments and centers.
As an integral part of a dynamic community of learners, teachers, and researchers, the library is
  • a place that guides access to a body of curriculum-centered knowledge
experienced personnel that provide a knowledge-based structured environment that encourages inquiry and reflection in support of self-directed, lifelong, and distance learning
a physical and virtual gateway to a continuously changing environment of scholarly communication, designed to optimize resource accessibility to the resident population as well as off-campus students and faculty
  • Librarians and operational staff identify, select, organize, disseminate, preserve, and interpret our published intellectual and creative heritage. They strive to expand both the depth and breadth of its total complement of academic resources, regardless of the geographic location of the faculty and students. For additional information see Supporting 21st Century Academic Inquiry , the May 2004 revision of the library strategic plan as well as the Shapiro Library Annual Report , May 2003.

Academic Library Newsletters in the United States
    Updated March 26, 2004
    ALiNUS
is a dynamic Internet gateway to more than 600 online academic library newsletters published by US institutions of higher education. from its inception in March 1999, the primary purpose of the ALiNUS Directory is to encourage communication among academic librarians. The prototype of this active database is the listing provided by the College Libraries Section ALiNUS Directory - Search ALiNUS Directory - View all Scope Audience Selection Criteria Revisions
Since URL's are highly fluid, revisions to the newsletter URL's should also be forwarded to the editor. A Linkbot analysis of this database will be run monthly to ensure the timeliness of the information. It is our experience that five percent of the addresses are unreachable at any given moment. The ALiNUS Directory is searchable by newsletter or university name. Note: Institutions that wish to suggest publications for inclusion in this database should email ALiNUS
