New Hampshire State Library Chooses epixtech for statewide union catalog

PROVO, Utah — The New Hampshire State Library is upgrading the library automation system used by the New Hampshire Automated Information System (NHAIS) to Horizon Sunrise and the Universal Resource Sharing Application (URSA) from epixtech. The move will help the State Library to maintain the union catalog of more than 1.5 million records and to provide interlibrary loan services for the nearly 400 NHAIS libraries. The public, school, academic, health sciences, and special libraries that comprise NHAIS will at last be able to share resources entirely through a web interface.
"The state-of-the-art union catalog provided by epixtech will greatly improve services to all of the libraries in the New Hampshire Automated Information System. The web-enabled approach offered by epixtech for its URSA system will be much easier to use than our previous system. We are very pleased to be working with

Welcome to the Tuck Library The Tuck Library preserves the finest collection of printed, manuscript, and pictorial materials relating to New Hampshire history anywhere. The library is named for the Society's greatest benefactor, Edward Tuck (1842-1938). In the early 1900s, Edward Tuck, a successful international financier living in Paris, donated funds to build a new library for the Society. Tuck, a native of Exeter, and his wife, Julia (1850-1928), were generous philanthropists in New Hampshire and in France throughout their lives. Tuck also established the Amos Tuck School of Business at his alma mater, Dartmouth College, named in honor of his father, who was a U.S. Congressman from New Hampshire and a leader in establishing the Republican Party in the mid-1850s. Edward and Julia Tuck also made cash gifts that became the foundation of the Sociey's endowment. Tuck called his involvement with the creation of the Society's library, "perhaps the happiest inspiration of my life." Location and Hours Located at 30 Park Street in Concord, the Tuck Library and its main reading room are open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The special collections library is open Tuesday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Tuck Library is fully accessible. Its mission is to advance the administration of justice by providing legal information and related services to the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government, the legal communities of New Hampshire, and the people of the state.
History In 1716, a collection of law books belonging to the provincial government formed the first state library collection. After the State House was built in 1816, a room was set aside for the library. For a time, the Secretary of State also served as the State Librarian. In 1895, a separate building was constructed to house the State Library and the New Hampshire Supreme Court. In1943, the State Library separated out its legal materials and created a Law Division of the State Library. It served as the law library for many years. In 1970, the current Supreme Court building was constructed, and the Law Division of the State Library moved, along with the New Hampshire Supreme Court, to the Supreme Court building.

Political Library Mourns Passing of Ronald Reagan
The New Hampshire Political Library joins the nation in mourning the passing of former President Ronald Reagan. Please go to our media room to see one of the most famous moments of the New Hampshire primary, the famous "I paid for this microphone" moment at Nashua High School in 1980. In addition, we have in our photo gallery some photographs of then former Governor Reagan on the campaign trail. Many in New Hampshire forged a life-long relationship with President Reagan as he campaigned on a conservative, lesser government, lower tax platform and, in his effective, charismatic style, promised to restore the American Dream.

First-in-the-Nation: A Proud New Hampshire Tradition
No state has a richer, deeper, or longer political identity and tradition than New Hampshire, home of the premier political event in the United States the quadrennial first-in-the-nation presidential primary. From the time of its first European settlement in the 17th century, this small state has led the way in participatory government. Today, New Hampshire holds more statewide and local elections more often than any other state in the U.S., providing easy ballot access by voter registration on election days. Traditionally, New Hampshire ranks among the states with the highest voter turnout in national elections. And New Hampshire voters have a reputation for both focusing on issues of national interest and picking winners!
