Welcome to our web site!
My name is Bill Rumming, my wife and I own and operate Down East Arts, a framing and art gallery in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada. By means of this web site we want to make available to many others some of my photography from this part of the world.
The Atlantic Provinces of Canada are a fascinating place for the photographer. They offer a wide variety of subject matter - seascapes, covered bridges, waterfalls, rolling hills, peaceful valleys, and much more. I have been photographing them for thirty years and continue to enjoy it.
Please browse, enjoy and come back often, as new images will be added regularly.

Overview, contacts, map, and annual summaries.

    Christmas Bird Counts in
    New Brunswick
Recent results Back in 1901, when the very first Christmas Bird Counts were published by the National Audubon Society, New Brunswick was represented. Farmer William H. Moore of Scotch Lake, near Mactaquac, reported a list of 10 species seen near his home on Christmas Day, 1900. New Brunswickers did not follow up well on Moore's pioneering example; for a half century, only a handful of counts were conducted here. Since 1956, however, a growing number of censuses have been carried out each year. In the 1990s, 45-50 areas are surveyed each winter. The results are published annually in the N.B. Naturalist / Le Naturaliste du N.-B. Some are also published by the National Audubon Society. Each count is conducted within a circle 24-km in diameter on one day during a 3-week period set by the Audubon Society. The 101st and subsequent Christmas Bird Counts will be held during the period from December 14 to January 5. A lot of Christmas Bird Count data (Canada-USA) is available on the web. Anyone who wishes to participate for the first time in an established New Brunswick count may contact the local organizer . To start a count in a new area send a message stating the area of interest to: David Christie Join the Christmas Bird Count, enjoy some healthy outdoor recreation, and help monitor the numbers of our winter birds.
