http://www.nbscots.com/about.html
The New Brunswick Scottish-Cultural Association, Inc. (NBSCA) was founded in 1980 in response to the disparate nature of the Scottish community in the Province of New Brunswick. Today, the NBSCA encompasses and represents individuals of Scottish descent and Scottish cultural groups across the province. Indeed, the NBSCA is the advocate of approximately 140,000 New Brunswickers who claim Scottish ancestry. The Association has two broad aims: Cultural Preservation and Education . At the same time, because the NBSCA is a non-profit organization, a third challenge exists: maintaining a Governing Structure that is minimalist and frugal, yet effective. The activities of the Association are very diverse. From Tartan Day Celebrations to the Celtic Performers database, from the annual Round Table Discussions to sponsoring Gaelic language classes, the NBSCA is a diverse organization with diverse activities. This website aims to show the many responsibilities of the NBSCA. THE NBSCA EDUCATION CULTURE History of the NBSCA Gaelic Language Classes Governing Structure NBSCA Grant ... Tartan Day, April 6th

New Brunswick town chosen as cultural capital
Last Updated 2003-05-12
Sandra Abma, The Arts Report
VANCOUVER - The small town of Caraquet, New Brunswick - with a population of less than 5,000 - is among five municipalities singled out as a Cultural Capital of Canada. Red Deer, Alberta, Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, Thunder Bay, Ontario and Vancouver, B.C. were also designated cultural epicentres by Heritage Minister Sheila Copps. The award recognizes communities that have a long track record in supporting the arts. Copps said despite Caraquet's small population, it has earned the right to be called a cultural capital. "I would say that what impressed the judges was that a community of less than 5,000 residents invested $200,000 annually into culture and actually had a strategy for cultural tourism." Each city will receive a financial contribution in the form of matching funds equal to its own investment, to a maximum of $500,000 for larger cities, and $250,000 for smaller ones.

New Brunswick For First Time Visitors
from WorldWeb Travel Guide One of the less well known parts of Canada for tourism, New Brunswick is nevertheless, one of Canada's most beautiful and unspoiled provinces. An area of large tracts of untouched forests and peaceful farmlands, river valleys, ocean islands, beautiful coastal trails and roads, magnificent warm water beaches, amazing cliff and rock formations, and much more; it is obvious that New Brunswick has an outstanding variety of interesting attractions and facilities for the traveller. The province's rich cultural heritage is an interesting one, with considerable influence from the original French-speaking Acadian settlers and from Empire Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution. New Brunswick is Canada's only officially bilingual province; most of the native French speakers also speak perfect English. For a good visual overview of this province visit our New Brunswick Photo Gallery An Aerial View of Fredericton, New Brunswick
This heritage is well reflected in the wide variety of events and entertainment, museums and in an excellent cuisine, which combines different ethnic and cultural roots with the easy availability of tremendous seafood and fresh produce. New Brunswick has an incredible selection of bird life and the high tides that the area is known for, have created a variety of natural phenomena. New Brunswick has three major cities. Fredericton the capital, has an interesting historic character

ince St. Patrick's Day was tomorrow, I had everything all planned for a celebration at supper time. I covered the Washington pie with light green frosting and Cliff used some dark green to make the shamrocks. Carefully I made my way from the pantry to the table, carrying my beautiful cake on the pedestal plate. I was so busy admiring my masterpiece that I forgot to watch where I was walking. I did not notice the dog stretched out on the floor until I stumbled over her. The cake went sliding off the plate. That was the end of the celebration.
It would take more than the loss of a cake to put a stumbling block in the way of celebrating March 17 by the members of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of New Brunswick. The association was founded in 1983 to revive and promote all aspects of Irish culture in New Brunswick with the mission to foster an awareness of the traditions, history and artistic expression of the Irish people. In July of 2003, they launched their website at newirelandnb.ca

My partner visited for the last week, and we visited Xian to see the terracotta figures, and Muslim Quarter - really worthwhile! The Beijing restaurants are good, reasonable and offer many cuisines, we tried different cuisine each visit - Russian food was interesting, not least to observe the distinctive Russian patrons. If you live with the attitude that the glass is half full, this could be an extremely rewarding experience. I'm looking forward to my return in a few months..." Keith
