Executive Summary Introduction Meeting the demands of growth, while ensuring high quality educational programs and training services, has been this College's greatest challenge during the ten years since the College was reaccredited in 1990 as Clark County Community College. To reflect the commitment to the college's service area and in keeping with its mission, the college was renamed the Community College of Southern Nevada. The College service area is 44,000 square miles, which covers four counties and contains 1.3 million Nevada residents. Extensive collaborative efforts with the school districts, employers, and governmental agencies have increased the ability of the College to meet the regional demands for a trained workforce. College faculty have focused on staying current in their field of expertise, implementing innovations within the learning environment, and strengthening general education in all courses of the College. Quality has been ensured by strong faculty hiring efforts, an expanded emphasis upon evaluation to improve instruction, and extensive work to utilize student outcomes as the major determinant of the College's effectiveness. Students have been enlisted to become active participants in the learning process through a variety of strategies, including web based instruction. Student support in the learning process has been expanded dramatically with the hiring of new counselors and student service personnel.
