SUMMARY OF NEVADA’S 2001 REDISTRICTING LEGISLATION On December 28, 2000, the U.S. Census Bureau released population totals for the states. As of April 1, 2000, Nevada had a resident population of 1,998,257 — a 66.3 percent increase over the state’s population in 1990. For the fourth decade in a row, Nevada was the fastest growing state in the nation. The 2001 Nevada Legislature revised the districts of a number of elected officers based on the results of the 2000 census and the “one person, one vote” principle through the passage of Senate Bill 14 of the 17 th Special Session (Chapter 23, Statutes of Nevada Special Session) Senate Bill 14 of the 17 th Special Session S enate Bill 14 revises the election districts for Nevada’s state legislators, Representatives in Congress, the Board of Regents of the University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN), and the State Board of Education. The measure retains a 21-member Senate and includes 19 Senate districts with an overall range of deviation of 9.91 percent from the ideal population of 95,155 for each single-member Senate district.

    I. Background:
Nevada's sodomy law was repealed effective 1993. Nevada has no out gay or lesbian state officials. But Nevada does have an anti-hate crime law that places additional penalties for crimes motivated by anti-gay hatred. In all fairness, the state looks pretty good as far as its reception of its gay and lesbian citizens. Voters elected out gay David Parks [D] to the Nevada State House in Nov. 1996. No regular legislative session. The Legislatures Home Page is http://www.leg.state.nv.us/ The Governors Home Page is http://gov.state.nv.us/

Humana, physicians in Ohio settle Johns Hopkins regains accreditation AMA offers online CME series on treating pain Audit praises Nevada board, makes recommendations
    Humana, physicians in Ohio settle
Judges in Kentucky and Ohio late last year OK'd a deal that Greater Cincinnati area doctors reached with Humana Inc. to settle a lawsuit in which physicians sought relief from the way Humana reimbursed them. A Hamilton County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas judge and a Boone County (Ky.) Circuit Court judge gave the go-ahead to a settlement that promises specific reimbursement increases that should total $100 million over the next three years for physicians in metropolitan Cincinnati. Humana denies any wrongdoing. The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the Butler County (Ohio) Medical Society, the Northern Kentucky Medical Society and several doctors sued Humana and its Humana Health Plan of Ohio and Humana Insurance Co. subsidiaries in 2002.
