The College
At Nebraska Methodist College we provide educational experiences that enable students to become much more than people with health care degrees or certificates. Our graduates have the keys to deeper self-awareness and stronger relationships. The development of these qualities provides our graduates with the resources necessary to give a higher level of care to their patients and make greater contributions to their communities. The Department of Nursing
Today's nurses teach, counsel, conduct research and take care into neighborhoods and homes. Positions in traditional settings such as hospitals and clinics require nurses to possess more practical skills than ever before. Nebraska Methodist College sets the standard for strong holistic education. Our emphasis on caring, wellness, health promotion and service makes our nursing programs the best choice for many students in the mid-west. The BSN Program At Nebraska Methodist College, the foundation of our program is caring for our clients, fellow students and ourselves. The BSN curriculum emphasizes community-based nursing education which prepares students to provide holistic nursing care for people wherever they encounter them, with attention placed on the professional values of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice.

    http://www.corrections.state.ne.us/inmate_programs/education.html
Educational Services The Department of Correctional Services has developed and maintains educational services to meet individual inmate needs. The educational programs are adult-oriented, providing individualized and group instruction in academic and life skills/pre-release classes. Educational programming at all institutions (except NCCW) is currently being provided through a single contractual service agreement with Metropolitan Community College. At the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, Metropolitan Community College provides life-skills programs while Department staff provide other educational programs. Programs are made available to all eligible inmates at a time when the majority can take advantage of the programs and, whenever possible, are designed to allow inmates to enter at any time and to proceed at a self-paced rate. Academic The academic programs include Literacy, Adult Basic Education/General Education Development (ABE/GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL). ABE classes (reading, mathematics, and written and oral communication) are developmental in content and structure. Classes are designed to strengthen skills of inmates who might lack the confidence to enroll in GED preparation courses. Special materials and strategies are used for those inmates who require special remediation in those areas or for whom English is not a first language. The English as a Second Language is offered for any student whose first language is other than English. Instruction is provided in reading, writing and speaking English.

What is the Oregon - California Trails Association?
The Oregon-California Trails Association ( OCTA ) is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, appreciation, and enjoyment of the trans-Mississippi westward emigrant trails. OCTA works with both government agencies and private landowners to preserve and mark the trails while also helping educate the public about this fascinating period in American history. Each year, we honor those who protect the trails as well as teachers who use innovative methods to teach the history of the emigration. OCTA publishes a variety of materials and maintains a large bookstore of western history resources. Additionally, volunteers have been surveying emigrant documents for several years to construct a computerized database for studying the emigrant experience. The database can also help genealogists locate information about their emigrant ancestors.
Here in Nebraska you'll find outstanding trail history and sites along the routes connecting the Kansas City area with the great American West. We are proud of our history, geography and culture, and we welcome you to our beautiful state.

  • Executive Summary Introduction
  • The educational telecommunications infrastructure in the State of Nebraska ranks among the best in the nation. Nebraska has been a leader in the deployment of educational television, radio, and distance learning to provide educational services to the citizens of the state. This study examines NET’s transmission infrastructure and provides recommendations for a technology plan that will expand and evolve the network in the most cost effective way that meets the needs of network users while taking advantage of continued advances in digital communications technology. An extensive needs assessment was performed to determine near term and long term application needs with respect to transmission capacity as well as service and support requirements. NET has transitioned the network over the past several years from a single channel of educational programming to a multi-channel, interactive network that provides educational television and distance learning services to a wide variety of users. State of the art technology, such as digital video compression, has been used to creatively develop a network that makes the most efficient use of the limited available bandwidth. Terrestrial-based services have been deployed to augment the historically satellite-based transmission infrastructure.

Vol 34. No 1. Spring 2003 p.10-24 The Annual Nebraska Library Association/Nebraska Educational Media Association Joint Conferences: 1997-2001: A Summary
Georgene E. Fawcett The purpose of this article is to provide members of the Nebraska Library Association (NLA) and the Nebraska Educational Media Association (NEMA) some insight about the joint annual conferences of NLA and NEMA. The idea for this article came from "Appendix B: Results of Chapter Conference Questionnaire" in Planning Chapter Conferences , issued by the Chapter Relations Office, American Library Association. Similar information about an annual NLA/NEMA conference is usually not available to the associations' general memberships. General information about the conferences is usually unknown as well. The 1997-2001 conferences were selected because they represent recent conferences at each of the currently used conference sites, Grand Island, Kearney, Lincoln, and Omaha, and one conference held in conjunction with additional library associations. For this article, the final reports from the NLA/NEMA conference history files for the 1997-2001 annual conferences and the 1997-2001 issues of the NLAQ were examined to make the data from these five conferences available to the NLA and NEMA memberships and to bring it together in one place for the benefit of the future NLA/NEMA conference committees. Seven accompanying tables summarize registration, fees, program sessions, and budget data for the five conferences. This information, provided primarily for the memberships and conference committees, may also be of interest to other librarians, media specialists, neighboring state and other library associations, exhibitors, and others involved with or interested in state library conferences. "Conference" and "convention" are used interchangeably throughout this article.
