Trust Fund When Minnesota plays, everybody wins. That's because proceeds from the Minnesota State Lottery finance a variety of projects that preserve, restore and enhance our state's natural resources. During the current biennium (2003-2005), 39 projects will receive $30 million through the Lottery-funded Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, which is administered by the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources. Since the Lottery's start-up, the trust fund has financed another 239 projects worth $141 million. The trust fund receives 40 percent of Lottery net proceeds, or about 6 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets. That totals about $22 million each year. The remaining 60 percent of proceeds is allocated to the state General Fund for programs such as public education, health and human services and public safety. 87.1 percent of a 6.5 cents in-lieu-of-sales tax is also distributed among various environmental programs, with the remaining 12.9 percent going to the General Fund.

Walmart Endangers Vermont The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Vermont one of the 11 most endangered historic places because of Walmart. VNRC knows the danger Walmart brings to a community - that's why we fought Walmart all the way to the Supreme Court 10 years ago - and won. ***June 2004 Legislative Wrap-Up*** VNRC was once again the lead presence in the State House on environmental issues. In the face of a growing business lobby, we managed to minimize the damage while playing key roles in passage of good legislation. But that hardly tells the whole story. Vermonters may be very surprised by how poorly Vermont’s environmental ethic was reflected in the State House.
