An Overview of Native Americans in Kentucky History
For thousands of years Native Americans lived and hunted within the present boundaries of Kentucky. However, by the time of the first European settlement in 1774-75, very few Native Americans resided in Kentucky. The Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Shawnee were the three major tribes that influenced Kentucky. The Shawnee was a powerful tribe whose lands included what is now part of Ohio. It claimed the area of Kentucky for a hunting ground and jealously guarded the region. Groups of Shawnee warriors traveled throughout the northern and central portions of Kentucky on hunting expeditions. However, the last settlement of the Shawnee in Kentucky, Eskippakithiki , located in present-day Clark County, was abandoned by 1754. The Shawnee raided the early settlements of Kentucky and did not give up their claims to the area until after the War of 1812.

Native Americans: Library Resources Return to Library Guides SCOPE This guide is an introduction to Native American resources available at the Cofrin Library and is by no means comprehensive. For the purpose of this guide, Native American, also called Amerindian Amerind , or Indian , refers to any member of the aboriginal peoples of North America. This guide has been created to assist students taking courses regarding American and Wisconsin Indians, and thus the focus is on Native Americans in the United States. This guide is available in paper and online at http://www.uwgb.edu/library/guides/native.html . With the online version you can directly connect to any sources that have an Internet address (http://....).
SEARCHING THE LIBRARY CATALOG For subject search, type Indians of North America . This subject can be narrowed by adding a subheading or a geographic area. You can also do a subject search for a particular tribe (but you have to add the word Indians after the tribe name). Another option is to search by keyword, in which you do not have to match the subject heading exactly. In keyword searching you can combine words or phrases by using connecting words such as

JUST STRIP CLUBS-NOT EXACTLY THE TOPS ONES! This book is about strip-clubs, just strip clubs. Anyone can go to 100 strip clubs and write about them. I happen to know some very elegant and well known strip clubs that are not mentioned in this book, so I was not impressed. misleading title, somewhat interesting-nothing dramatic As a frequenter of exotic clubs, I read this book and was disappointed. The book is funny and somewhat interesting, but it lacks alot information. I have dated many strippers and this book does not tell it like it really is. Besides, too many questions are still left unanswered. Good thing the book was cheap. Poor book, lacks the reality of the srtipping scene I have been a stripper for the past 6 years and I can honestly say this is a stupid book. The author does nothing to depict the truth. Yes, he talks about different clubs, explains different dances and talks about the patrons, but the book tells nothing about the drugs, alcohol and sex that is so common among strippers.
