I am Locopelli.
Welcome to my world. Welcome to the world of the Native American Flute. The Native American Flute has been played in North America for a thousand years or more. There are many ancient petroglyphs showing the flute player bringing rain, love, healing and harmony through its vibrational earthly connection. Flutes vibrate with the spirit of the tree. The tree is the earth's song to the sky that brings harmony to all living things and a connection to our creator. Everything is resonating in a vibration that is effected by the resonance of the spirit of the tree. Ancient people understood this because of their connection to their surroundings, their Earth Mother. They used the music for courting, healing, hunting magic, celebrations and relaxing just like you can. Whether you want to learn to play and release those songs that we all have locked inside us or just listen to and enjoy the vibrational massage that only the Native American Flute can bring. Welcome to my world. Welcome to The world of the Native American Flute.

Native Languages of the Americas: Facts for Kids
Resources on American Indians for Children and Teachers
Hello, and welcome to Native Languages of the Americas! We are a non-profit organization working to preserve and promote American Indian languages, particularly through the use of Internet technology. Our main Native American Language site contains information and links about dozens of American Indian tribes and their native languages, including vocabulary sets and soundfiles. Although these pages are rich in information, they are also long and complicated, and it can be hard for non-native children to gather facts from them. Due to the many emails we receive every week asking us for Native American information for school or homeschooling reports, we have launched a special "Facts For Kids" project to provide online information about American Indians in an easy-to-read question and answer format, with links we feel are especially accessible to all ages. We encourage students, especially older kids, to look through the rest of our pages to get the best feel for the American Indian cultures they are studying.
Before you start This website may look a little bit boring to you at first glance. There are no animations, no games, no continuously loading flute music and no illustrations (though there are many links to good illustrations). This is important so that our pages can load faster and work for everyone's computers, including the older computers that many American Indian kids use. Native Americans are not extinct. As of the year 2000, there are more than three million Native American people in Canada and the US combinedincluding more than a million children. Native American kids have real-life hopes and real-life problems, just like other kids do. They may take part in traditional Indian dances, or they may be Britney Spears fans, or both. They probably don't live in tepees, any more than non-native kids live in log cabins. And sometimes, they have to do their homework on the Internet. You are sharing this website with each other. Please be respectful neighbors.

127. Native American Religion
Overview of different beliefs and rituals, the concept of religious experience and background information of native american religions.

Native American Religion
"Mitakuye Oyasin: We are all related. Most Indians hear this phrase thousands of times a year as they attend or perform ceremonies and for many...the phrase seems to be...a liturgical blessing that includes all other forms of life in human ceremonial activities." Vine Deloria, Jr., 1992 Background Anthropologists divide the Native American cultures of North America into seven groups: Eastern Woodlands, Southeastern, Plains, Plateau, Great Basin, Southwestern, and Northwest Coastal. Each of these geographical groupings contains many distinct peoples with only the broadest characteristics in common, each with their own culture and religious beliefs. Any attempt to briefly summarize such a rich variety of peoples as this page does is going to involve inexact generalizations: It can't be helped. Where space permits, examples appear from different tribal groups, but they do not begin to reflect the diversity of Native American spirituality. Ritual How do traditional Native Americans seek closeness/union with Spirit?

Native American Playwrights
One of the Greatest Threats to Native America is Indifference We Strive Not To Become Invisible Welcome to the Native American Playwright Website: In order to create a dialog of understanding the voice of Native America must be heard. To begin this dialog the words of Native America must be accessible. The development of a database accessible to performing arts companies and the public is a step toward achieving this goal. Working toward change and understanding this information can be used by: artists, teachers, students, communities, publishers, writers, military and all others seeking to promote Native Theatre and cultural preservation. With the help and guidance of many friends working in Native Theatre I have gathered a collection of playwrights and an alpha listing of their works. You will find some information missing or incomplete. I have chosen to launch this site in the hope that those who share this site will contact me to help correct or add information, which will assist in the promotion of Native Theatre. We must hold one another up high and stand beside our brothers and sisters.

http://www.thewildwest.org/native_american/art/
It was not too long ago that Indian arts and crafts, no matter what, were considered "novelties" or "trinkets" to be brought home from road trips or vacations. Music and dance was confined to the native world or offered in tourist attractions as an illustration of a lifestyle unknown to many people. Over the past few decades however, in conjunction with a heightened interest in all things Indian, came a vast and varied interest in their art. Expression in the art and dance among North America's indigenous peoples is many faceted, as much a part of life in the form of function and ceremony as it is decoration or performance. Today the Indian arts have been "discovered," and a large cross section of humanity is enjoying its intrinsic excellence, vitality, originality and tradition they offer to the heart and head.

INDIAN DANCES For centuries native peoples have gathered together and engaged in ceremonial and celebratory dance. Men's Traditional Dance, Women's Traditional Dance, Grass Dance...all are rooted in those days long ago but like much of American Indian culture, these roots are not simply history. Attend any powwow today and you can see these dances recreated by men, women and children in exhibition and competition as lush illustrations of "living history." Men's Traditional Dance: Danced with exaggerated movement above the waist to simulate hunting, tracking or fighting but heavy, grounded, flat-footed lower body, this dance originated with members of warrior societies on the Great Plains. Costume includes an eagle feather bustle and hair roach made of porcupine quills. While many tribal gatherings today work to join and unite tribes from across the continent, homogenizing some of the dances to suit all, Men's Traditional dance remains tribe specific in terms of style and dress.
