LCM and HCF can also be practiced. At the end of the practice session (which lasts as long as you wish), you can see the score i.e. the number of problems correctly solved as well as the number of problems the child could not solve. Unless the child gets a problem right, the applet does not advance to another problem. It is a great tool for teaching arithmetic. Abstract:
Many great mathematicians of the nineteenth century considered problems involving binomial coefficients modulo a prime power (for instance Babbage, Cauchy, Cayley, Gauss, Hensel, Hermite, Kummer, Legendre, Lucas and Stickelberger see Dickson). They discovered a variety of elegant and surprising Theorems which are often easy to prove. In this article we shall exhibit most of these results, and extend them in a variety of ways.

    17. Handling Arithmetic Errors In Fortran 2000
Article by Jeanne Adams discussing various aspects of the exceptionhandling technical report.
    http://www.scd.ucar.edu/zine/96/summer/articles/3.f2000.html
    Handling arithmetic errors in Fortran
by Jeanne Adams F ortran 95 is currently in balloting phase as a draft international standard. This standard will be published in 1996 or 1997. Another draft standard (Fortran 2000) is in progress, planned for release early in the next century. In the interim between standards, the user community expressses needs for various features they want in Fortran. To respond to these needs, the international working group on Fortran has established a plan for "technical reports" to be released between formal standards. These reports are auxiliary to the current Fortran standard, and the features that are approved will be included in the next draft standard. This will allow those features to be available for use in the interim between standards, before the next draft standard is released. The following topics are in various stages of development for release as technical reports in the international community:
    • Exception handling
    • Allocatable components and dummy arguments
    • Interoperability with C
This article discusses various aspects of the exception-handling technical report, while the other two reports will be discussed in subsequent articles.
