Mission Statement
The Region X Comprehensive Center (CC) at NWREL is part of a nationwide network of 15 technical assistance centers established by the U.S. Department of Education . The CC network provides training, technical assistance, and research-based information to high-poverty, low-performing schools and districts, Bureau of Indian Affairs schools, and No Child Left Behind Act grant recipients that are implementing comprehensive, whole-school reform measures. At the Region X Comprehensive Center, we work closely with the state education departments of Idaho Montana Oregon Washington , and Wyoming , as well as with intermediate educational service agencies, local school districts, and other agencies within the region that are involved in educational reform and improvement. Our mission is to enhance the capacity of these departments and agencies to ensure that every child in the region has equal access to the highest quality education and an opportunity to meet challenging content and performance standards. Nonprofit trade associations, coalitions, service delivery networks, and other NGOs are valuable sources of information on school health. Nearly 70 national NGOs collaborated with EDC on the book Health is Academic: A Guide to Coordinated School Health Programs . They appear with an asterisk (*) next to their names. A great way to keep up with forthcoming grant opportunities is to watch your state's current legislative activities. If your state has a State Register, announcements for Requests for Proposal are published on a weekly basis (in Texas). Dynamic Community Connections Project
The Dynamic Community Connections Project (DCCP) was developed to enhance public awareness about early intervention services and the referral process for the services for young children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families in rural areas of Montana. The awareness of the need to enhance public awareness and child find efforts became apparent as the Infant and Toddler Program agencies in Montana prepared for federal monitoring of Montana's Part C early Intervention (EI) services. The Rural Institute collaborated with Montana's Part C lead agency, the Developmental Disabilities Program of the Department of Public Health and Human Services, Teaching Research of Western Oregon University, and regional early intervention agencies in Montana and Oregon to develop this grant proposal. DCCP is based on the premise that how people access information may be unique in rural areas and that statewide public awareness campaigns may not reach certain rural populations. Thus, public awareness and child find campaigns need to be specifically developed for rural areas. Other key foundations for successful and comprehensive campaigns in rural areas are:

What are the Regional Resource Centers?
The six Regional Resource Centers (RRCs) are specifically funded to assist state education agencies in the systemic improvement of education programs, practices, and policies that affect children and youth with disabilities. The RRCs help states and U.S. jurisdictions find integrated solutions for systemic reform, offering consultation, information services, technical assistance, training, and product development. The beneficiaries of the RRCs' work are children and youth with disabilities, and the families and professionals associated with them.

MTRI Focus Team
The Montana Tourism and Recreation Initiative (MTRI) is a coalition of a number of key state and federal agencies all sharing an interest in tourism and recreation in Montana. In order to specifically facilitate planning for the upcoming Bicentennial, a special MTRI Focus Team has been created which presently encompasses eight agencies. This Focus Team meets regularly and searches for projects of common interest, working together to maximize efforts. These people may be a great resource for individual questions you may have.
Travel Montana's Tourism Development and Education efforts are focused on helping the state's communities and businesses utilize tourism as a tool to improve the local, regional and state economy while protecting or improving the quality of life for Montana's residents. The guidelines for these efforts are provided by the Montana Tourism Industry's Five-Year Strategic Plan and Travel Montana's corresponding Five-Year Marketing Plan. The components of the Tourism Development and Education programs include:
