NOTE:
Please update your links for GMRS to point to http://www.mcmrr.com
The GMRS website will vanish by the end of the month.
Status:

As was reported on this website almost a year ago, GMRS lost their lease from the City of Gaithersburg. We have been agressivly pursuing options to either purchase the building or relocate the layout. It is the decision of the Board of Directors of Gaithersburg Model Railroad Society that even with the generous gift of another individual, we are not in the finacial position to afford to stay in the Mills house. Saturday, March 3, 2004 will be our last openhouse.
Future of the layout:
The layout will be given to a Hagerstown railroading group for display purposes. Future of the club: It is highly likely that the Gaithersburg Model Railroad Society will merge with the Rockville club and move our operations into the building on the King Farm development that the Rockville club has recently signed a 10-year lease with the City of Rockville to occupy. Details about this arrangement may be forthcoming. The status of this website Subpages are non-working due to a mime error. Due to the expected closing of our model railroad layout, we will be shutting our website down permenantly on April 30th. Becuase of this website shutdown, the mime error problem will not be fixed.

my Columbia Gorge Model
Railroad Club
Portland OR.
The Club has an official website at http://www.cgmrc.com/ Welcome to my Columbia Gorge Model Railroad Club World Wide Web Page. The club is located in Portland OR and has a large HO layout representing portions of the Columbia Gorge.
History
Organized in October 1947, the club's first layout was located in the basement of a store building (now the site of an assisted care facility) within sight of our present location. That layout was short-lived, as the club lost its lease and was forced to find new quarters. The members pledged this would not happen again and set about finding a location to purchase. A vacant lot on North Montana Avenue was purchased and the members constructed a 30 foot by 80 foot building with their own sweat and skill. The building was completed in 1948 and was to be our home for 34 years. In 1982 the building and property were sold to the Kaiser Foundation.
Current Layout
We contracted the construction of our present building and proudly took possession on January 1, 1983. Then began the long process of getting the building ready for the new layout; designing it, and, finally, starting construction. The layout is located in a 58 foot by 70 foot room (nearly 2 1/2 times larger than our old layout room) and is designed to represent the rail lines between Portland and Wishram, Washington plus the rail line up the Deschutes River to Bend, Oregon. Points of interest that have been specifically modeled on this new layout includes Portland's Union Station and the Steele Bridge, Multnomah Falls, Crown Point, Portland's Trolley Lines, The Deschutes River Canyon, Wishram's Railroad Yard, and many interesting points between. The

http://www.sfrm.org/
Welcome to the Museum's web presence. Our challenge is to provide the public with the history of railroading and how it affected the population growth and industry boom from the 1940's to the 1960's in the South Florida area. We are planning to teach through the use of railroad artifacts and through the design and the building of a model railroad display depicting the area during that time frame. Our desire is to chronicle the history of South Florida as related to the Railroads that brought commerce and development to the area and to educate the general population. We are also qualified to instruct the "Operation Lifesaver" program, to make our rail crossing safer. Located in the historic former Seaboard Air Line station building in Deerfield Beach, it is our goal to preserve the history of railroads in southern Florida, and educate the public about the importance of railroads in the region past and present. There is also an active model railroad contingent within the organization, with a 16'x18' HO layout in operation, a 4'x30' permanent HOn3 layout display under construction, and a 4'x20' N scale layout. Our collection of historic artifacts is constantly growing, and donations are always welcome. We are active in other areas as well, including presenting auctions and swap meets of model railroad equipment and railroadiana, and assisting in the sale of collections and
