Missouri Waltz
Hush-a-bye ma baby, slumber time is comin' soon.
Rest yo head upon my breast, while mommy hums a tune.
The sandman is calling, where shadows are falling,
While the soft breezes sigh as in days long gone by.
'Way down in Missouri where I heard this melody,
When I was a little child on my mommy's knee.
The old folks were hummin',
Their banjos were strummin',
So sweet and low.
Strum, strum, strum, strum, strum,
Seems I hear those banjos playing once again, Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, That same old plaintive strain. Hear that mournful melody, It just haunts you the whole day long. And you wander in dreams, Back to Dixie it seems When you hear that old song.
My KOSARK Family Tree
I was born on 9/7/58 as Carol Ann Kosark in St. Francis Hospital in Washington Missouri, but you can call me Sweetcake. I am 1/2 Polish on my mom's side and on my Dad's side I am also Bohemian (Austria Czech Republic) and Cherokee Indian, German and English. I am originally from the Owensville, Gasconade County Missouri area. That is where my father's family is located. I moved to the Long Island, New York area where my mom is from, after my parents divorced around 1968. I have had little or almost no contact with my dad's side of the family since the divorce and am desperately trying to trace my roots on my dad's side.

Main htmlAdWH('7008303', '234', '60'); "Updated 3/24/01" LEVEN COLE 1745 - 1816 Welcome to my Web Page on Leven COLE , otherwise known as the "Elusive Leven". After researching the COLE family for many years, and checking out every possible lead or tip, I have come to a dead end on Leven's past beyond North Carolina. I would like to start off with a very special "Thank You" to my "Biggest Buddy" in genealogy, Earl (Wes) MUNDY . We work so well together and we both have made a lot of progress on this family sharing and brainstorming. A "Big Thank You" to the late Ron COLE, Sr . and also his son Ron COLE, Jr . for a lot of documents and research they shared with Wes and me. A special thanks to Marian PORTER , Jerri SUDDERTH , and Sherry CLARK for sharing. And thanks to all you EOFF and GIBSON researchers that have shared as well. It is not my intent to dispute anyone's research or theories, but to present my own on this family. I welcome any comments, corrections and any additional information on this family. Please feel free to email me, Beverly Mundy, at bvmundy@aol.com

Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning.
No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum.
An emptiness.
And the most disquieting loneliness." - Alex Haley Browse Database Email Links ... Our Pennsylvania Roots Here's what's 1828 Tax List , Perry County, Missouri (transcribed)
Collected two years before the county's first federal census, the 1828 tax list is one of the earliest enumerations of the residents of Perry County, Missouri. Items from The Weekly Perryville Union, 1863-1878 , Perry County's oldest newspaper. Recently added new pages from July through December 1877.
We've been searching for articles related to our family, and have collected a lot of other unrelated material. We thought it would be fun to present it all here, because it provides a first-hand look at what life was like for the inhabitants of Perryville over 125 years ago. Native American Genealogy
There are many unique challenges encountered when researching Native American (Indian) genealogy. The traditions, naming customs and kinship systems varied widely among tribes; therefore, it is usually necessary that the researcher become familiar with those that pertain to a particular tribe. Our reference library has a splendid Indian collection for the historian, but our published sources are incomplete for tracing Indian genealogy. By 1836, Indian tribes in Missouri had been removed and no longer had claims to any Missouri land. The Society does not have, nor are we aware of, lists of rolls of Indians in Missouri. Individuals who left the "Trail of Tears" did not maintain their tribal status in most cases. Please note below some agencies you might find helpful in your research. NATIONAL ARCHIVES Valuable records of federal government agencies, including records from various field offices of the Bureau of Indian Affairs , have been deposited throughout the United States. National Archives records, 1830-1940, deal chiefly with Indians who
