Parents receive up to four hours of mediation free. In the mediation sessions, parents are able to work out conflicts related to parenting time, financial support, transportation, etc. If only one of the parents wants mediation, the MARCH staff will help the parent get an order requiring both parents to enter into mediation. If the parents come to an agreement, MARCH staff will help the parents get that agreement made into an enforceable order. The MARCH staff will screen for domestic violence to make sure a parent does not get forced into mediation if he or she does not feel safe. One of the unique features of the MARCH project is that we get parents talking about parenting time as soon as possible in the establishment process. Goals: Get fathers involved in their children’s lives. Address parents’ needs regarding access issues. Reduce unnecessary litigation in courts. Reduce conflict between parents. Principals include: Judges, Mediators, Attorneys, State Representative, DCSE staff.

"To ensure that all children with special needs receive an education which allows them to achieve their personal goals." Parents of children with disabilities face challenges every day that other parents don't have. It is often difficult to navigate the maze of special services and create a plan that will help children achieve successful outcomes through education. But how do we reach these goals? How do we know what choices to make for and with our children? Missouri Parents ACT (MPACT) can help answer your questions. MPACT assists parents to effectively advocate for their children's educational rights and services. MPACT is a statewide parent training and information center serving all disabilities. Our mission is to ensure that all children with special needs receive an education that allows them to achieve their personal goals. MPACT staff and volunteers are located throughout Missouri working together with educators and others for children's education. This law, commonly referred to as IDEA, provides the basis for special education services in Missouri. The major purpose of the IDEA is to provide children who have special needs the supports and services they need to learn and progress in their schoolwork. It requires that each child receive a free and appropriate public education. As the parent of a child with a disability, you will participate in many meetings, working along side school personnel in planning the special educational services and supports that your child needs. It is important that you understand your child’s rights under IDEA.
