Kimball Family Genealogy This site is dedicated to
    William Lewis Kimball
of Minnesota and the finding and recording of his Ancestors and descendants. A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.

Proverbs 22: 1 Lord, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is!
Psalms 39: 4 The focus of this page is primarily on the descendants and the ancestors of William Lewis Kimball. William was the Grandson of Horace and Lois Kimball, and the son of William Harrison Kimball and Ann Elizabeth (Stevens) Kimball. William L Kimball was born at Ottertail County, Minnesota on April 15, 1882. He married Adaltha (Della) Elizabeth Williams at White Oak Township, Akeley, Minnesota on April 6, 1905. William worked as a logger and sawmill worker as his primary occupation, although he also had been employed at many other jobs such as farming, working on the railroad, grain thrashing crews, and he had also driven a stage coach . In his later years he was an expert sawfiler and sawmill owners came from all over to obtain his saw filing service. William and Della had nine children together but, July 11, 1941, they separated and Della moved to the state of Washington. They remained separated the rest of their lives but never divorced. William remained in Minnesota, although he did make at least one trip to Washington to visit. William died at Bagley, Minnesota on January 18, 1960 and is buried at Park Rapids, Minnesota.

God bless America, my home sweet home!
.....Irving Berlin Welcome To Pennington County Minnesota Brief History of Pennington County. The earliest known settlers in northwestern Minnesota were the Dakota Sioux who were well established by the late 1600's. By 1770 the Chippewa had become the dominant tribe in a wide area of northern and central Minnesota, including the area which later became Pennington County. In 1863 the Chippewa signed a treaty with the Federal Government which opened up a large tract of land to homesteaders, while reserving some of what would later become Pennington County as Chippewa land. When Polk County was formed in 1858, it included what would later be both Red Lake and Pennington Counties. In 1896 Red Lake County was formed from part of Polk County and in 1910 Pennington County was formed from part of Red Lake County. Thief River Falls is the county seat. Washington County was established October 27, 1849 and was named for George Washington, first President of the United States. It was one of the nine original counties created in the new Minnesota Territory. The French explorer LeSuer was in the area in 1695 but civilian settlement was sparse until the 1840s. It was here in Washington County that the state of Minnesota had its beginning. Minnesota became a state on May 11, 1858.

    Anyone know about this song?
    Who is Reginald Frees?
Did he live in the area?
Was he talking about our Lac Qui Parle Lake?
I checked with the feds. The name of Lac Qui Parle is unique in the USA.
Please email me if you have information at MNGenWeb@aol.com or SaintOlaf@aol.com
For the whole song visit On the Banks of the Lac Qui Parle
In the History of Chippewa County, there was a pastor a few miles NW of Monte who married a Freese girl around 1902. Reginald Frees song printed in 1905 and a Freese woman married around 1902. There could be a connection. It does take time to get a song published. Reginald could be her father or brother. Other internet research found that the owner of the publishing company destroyed most of the company records. There is a Social Security Death Index record of a Reginald Frees born in 1895 in Albany, New York. Too young for the song but this one could be related. I have four Frees family historians to check and then check with Freese family historians. -Michael Andrews
