Carol-Jean Boevers About Me and My Work
-Russian Proverb
I have previously published a short book about the Holman-Burhite-Hals family of Chisago County. A number of my articles and interview transcriptions have appeared Heritage, the historical society newsletter, as well as the newly-published History of Chisago County. I have also created a database of death records from the Faribault State School for the Feeble-Minded.
I have a B.A. in German from the University of Minnesota. I live in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, where the Minnesota History Center (state archives) is located. I am within an hour's drive of 14 Minnesota and Wisconsin counties.
I just love doing genealogy and historical research! And I am happy to search in your behalf. My special interest is cultural history - bringing the everyday lives of everyday people into focus. Feel free to be involved in directing your research, or just leave it up to me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Would you like to adopt a Minnesota County?
Contact: Webweaver for Minnesota
(Place "Minnesota Adoption" in the subject line.) The Minnesota Territory was formed in March of 1849. At that time, it included an eastern portion of the present day North and South Dakota. It's Territorial Legislature authorized the formation of nine counties from the Minnesota Territory the same year. The original nine counties were: Benton, Dakota, Itasca, Pembina, Mahkahto, Ramsey, Wabasha, Washington and Wahnahta.
Though the boundaries have been altered considerably over the years, 5 of these still exist. During 1999, these will be celebrating their Sesquicentennial anniversary (150 years): Dakota, Itasca, Ramsey, Wabasha and Washington.
