The mission of the US Army Military Police School is to train MP leaders and soldiers who are well grounded in warfighting doctrine, capable of performing the five MP functional areas across the spectrum of conflict and to design organizations and equipment to facilitate the accomplishment of those functions now and into the future. The Military Police Corps is one of the youngest branches of the United States Army. It was officially established on 26 September 1941. It's traditions of duty and service are unsurpassed in our armed services. Soldiers have been performing police duties from the time of the Revolutionary War, when these duties were assigned mainly to a mounted police force called the "troops of the Marechaussee". Soldiers as the Veteran's Reserve Corps and Provost Corps performed military police duties during the Civil War. MPs served with distinction in the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, and in Vietnam. As a result of their distinguished service in Vietnam, the Military Police Corps was designated a combat support and service of the Army on 14 October 1968.

Whether you are a corporate executive who travels internationally, a law enforcement officer, or a member of a special operations unit within the military, ACI has a program to meet your personal protection needs. It is an easy to learn system that can be retained and depended upon to work under the most stressful environment. This personal protection system is based on WWII close quarters combat. It's effectiveness has been proven by individuals throughout the world, from all walks of life, against armed and unarmed assailants. EVERYONE needs self-protection training. Yet we don't think about it until we ourselves, or someone we know or love is a victim of a violent crime. Having the right training could keep you from becoming a helpless victim. The FBI reports that a forcible rape occurs every 6 minutes, a robbery every 46 seconds, an aggravated assault every 29 seconds, and a murder every 21 minutes. We see it on the news everyday and it never gets our attention until it hits close to home. Crime is closer than you think! ACI is the most realistic personal protection system which teaches all aspects of self protection. May 28-29 Seminar Coming Soon!

By Walter Pincus and Thomas E. Ricks
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, May 11, 2004; Page A15 A Senate hearing on the burgeoning Iraq prison abuse scandal will swing the spotlight today from the military police who committed the alleged offenses to the military intelligence community that oversaw them. In making that shift, senators said, they are likely to begin asking about the multiple chains of command that have blurred lines of responsibility in the U.S. effort in Iraq. Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, said he will ask Stephen Cambone, undersecretary of defense for intelligence, whether he approved the controversial use of Army prison guards to soften up Iraqi detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison when he appears before the panel. Cambone, the Pentagon's top intelligence official, testified on Friday before the same panel that it was at his "encouragement" that Army Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, who was head of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where suspected al Qaeda terrorists have been questioned, was sent in August to survey Abu Ghraib. Cambone also said he was aware of Miller's recommendation that "we could get a better coordination between those who were being held and those who were being interrogated."

Reuters
Friday, May 7, 2004; 2:22 AM By Adam Tanner ANTIOCH, California (Reuters) - Three U.S. military policemen who served at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison said on Thursday they had witnessed unreported cases of prisoner abuse and that the practice against Iraqis was commonplace. "It is a common thing to abuse prisoners," said Sgt. Mike Sindar, 25, of the Army National Guard's 870th Military Police Company based in the San Francisco Bay area. "I saw beatings all the time. "A lot of people had so much pent-up anger, so much aggression," he said. Sindar and the other military policemen, who have returned to California from Iraq, spoke in interviews with Reuters. U.S. treatment of Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib has stirred wide international condemnation after the publication of photos in recent days showing Americans sexually humiliating prisoners. Six soldiers in Iraq have been charged in the case and President Bush apologized publicly on Thursday. Although public attention has focused on the dehumanizing photos, some members of the 870th MP unit say the faces in those images were not the only ones engaged in cruel behavior.

Calif. Police, U.S. Troops Equip Iraqis
By Seth Robson
Stars and Stripes
European Edition March 4, 2004 BAQOUBA, Iraq — American police officers and U.S. soldiers delivered hundreds of bulletproof vests and other equipment last week to Iraqi police in Diyala Province, north of Baghdad. The police officers from Fresno and Madera, Calif., who brought the donated equipment to Diyala police headquarters were accompanied by soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division's 588th Engineers Task Force. The Iraqi lawmen smiled as they unpacked dozens of boxes containing 300 bulletproof vests, 125 two-way radios with chargers and batteries, 250 helmets and various other items. Soon, they were trying on vests and helmets and getting on-the-spot lessons on using riot sticks from their American counterparts. Detective Michael Harris of the Fresno Police Department, who helped collect the gear, said the 5-year-old bulletproof vests are past their use-by date but work perfectly. If they had not been donated to Iraq, the Californian police departments would have to pay for their destruction, he said.
