MIDDLE EAST ARCHEOLOGY by Avi Davis If American Middle East policy could be represented as an archeological dig, it would look something like this: the Zinni Mission would be resting atop the ruins of the Tenet Work Plan, which would be crushing the remains of the Mitchell Commission Report, which would be settled on remnants of the pillaged Sharm al Sheikh agreement, all of which would be weighing down the collapsed foundations of the shattered Oslo Accords. If recent history is a reliable gauge, peacemaking produces more embarrassment than it does results and only fosters the impression that the United States is helpless to have any meaningful impact on the Arab Israeli conflict. Only three weeks into the life of the latest initiative, the Bush Administration's Road Map seems poised to join this historical ash heap. You didn't need to be Nostradamus to predict it : The contemptuousness of Hamas, the weakness of Abu Mazen, the brazen interference of Yasser Arafat, the raw hostility of the Palestinian street were all clear indicators of the impetuousness of any initiative that avoided dealing with the central issue of the Arab-Israeli conflict : the pan-Arab disinclination to recognize Israel's right to exist. Unable to grasp this fundamental obstacle to peace, the Bush Administration's Middle East policy has now become hostage to the kind of unrealistic expectations that churned Clinton's Middle East policies into mud and blinkered millions into believing that peace was just around the corner.

web posted June 30, 2003 If American Middle East policy could be represented as an archeological dig, it would look something like this: the Zinni Mission would be resting atop the ruins of the Tenet Work Plan, which would be crushing the remains of the Mitchell Commission Report, which would be settled on remnants of the pillaged Sharm al Sheikh agreement, all of which would be weighing down the collapsed foundations of the shattered Oslo Accords. Recent history would seem to indicate that peacemaking produces more embarrassment than it does results, and only fosters the impression that the United States is impotent in having any meaningful impact on the Arab Israeli conflict.
Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi speaks during an interview in his home in Gaza City on June 29 following the ceasefire announcement What is it then that caused the Bush Administration to trundle down a road so ridden with pitfalls and cursed with the burned out chasses of so many past vehicles of peace? It is of course a noble American tradition to campaign for peace between belligerents - harking back to the bold interventionism of both Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Such idealism has always been based on the notion that the United States, free of Europe's historical baggage could wield significant leverage in a world fraught with violence and conflict. Such slogans as 'making the world safe for democracy' and 'new world order' gained currency and acceptance as distinctly American visions of a world in which violence and conflict would be contained.

Using the Correct Reference Tool
tell >. We are all familiar with this word meaning an artificial hill, or a mound, from a previous settlement. Since the word has passed into the English language, the first librarian looked up the word in an unabridged English dictionary. The English dictionary correctly defined the word and gave the etymology as if the word came from Arabic. Using the correct tools let us examine this word's etymology. Arabic as a written language is much more recent than Hebrew. Old or Early Arabic has no surviving written records. The Talmud, which pre-dates written Arabic, has some statements containing names of objects in Arabic, making the Talmud one of the earliest sources of recorded Arabic. Classical Arabic dates from about 632 C.E. with the creation of an Arab empire. Arabic contained many dialects because the speakers were tribal and isolated from each other. However, speakers from different dialects could understand each other. Because of this isolation, Arabic had fewer outside influences than Hebrew and tended to have short vowels. Because of the synthetic nature of how Arabic developed in the classical period, most of the verbal and noun forms are created from three letter roots. Hebrew, too, has three-letter roots, but certain words have remnants or clues to earlier two-letter roots. For example some two-letter roots became words with a yod as the middle letter or via a doubling of one of the letters.

REMOTE SENSING FOR ARCHAEOLOGY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
As this photograph by James Sauer of the Roman fort of Qasr Bshir in Jordan illustrates, the antiquities of Jordan can be spectacularly well-preserved (see Kennedy and Riley 1990). The AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHIC ARCHIVE FOR ARCHAEOLOGY IN THE MIDDLE EAST was established in 1978 under the patronage of Crown Prince Hassan bin Talal of Jordan. Financial support has been provided by, amongst others, the British Academy, the Society of Antiquaries of London and the Australian Research Council. To date it consists of over 8000 photographs and several hundred maps for several countries, mainly Jordan. See also the link to the Aerial Archive for Jordan. Many other sites can be far less well-preserved. This small Byzantine town at Khirbet Khau in northern Jordan was difficult to interpret at ground level when visited by travellers a century ago and has been "lost" within the perimeter of a military base for the last half century. The air photograph, however, makes it far more readily and immediately intelligible, depicting the fort in the top right and the town which grew up around it on the west and south. The REMOTE SENSING FOR ARCHAEOLOGY IN THE MIDDLE EAST project is an outgrowth of the former, funded since 1991 by the Australian Research Council.

zstartz Descendants of the Babelites vs Natives of the middle east GENESIS 41:45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. The tribe of Joseph came out of the womb of an Egyptian mother. Joseph himself was a descendant of Canaanites, Syrians and Iraqis. The 3 guys in the back ground are Arabs I worked with in about 1980. The 3 in the front are Europeans who claim to be they are Jews. I captured them off of 60 minutes. Every Israelite in the scriptures was out of the wombs / loins of the Arabs of the middle east. Those claiming to be "Jews" have the same physical appearance as every other European. The common Arab has the same physical appearance as those Arabs / Jews found in middle east paintings, archeology and anthropology. Did living in Europe for 2000 years change their physical appearance? Does living in Europe make people "white"? NO! There are Arab families who have lived in Europe for hundreds of years and they still look like Arabs. There are Africans who have lived in Europe for hundreds and their hair has not turned blond, their eyes have not turned blue and their faces have not turned pink. The reason why these counterfeit "Jews" look like Europeans is because they are not descendants of the bible Jews, they are Europeans.
