The Florida Study like others done in fifteen states link achievement in schools with a credentialed library media specialist. The study collected a great deal of information about the collections, services, staff, and programs of Florida's K-12 public school library media centers so that many questions can be answered about the status of Florida's LMCs in addition to the achievement link. The study begins with a comprehensive executive summary followed by the full report complete with tables and methodology. The executive summary is valuable for those making presentations to parents, boards of education, and other interested groups. For persons outside Florida, this study adds to the pile of evidence. We Boost Achievement! Evidence-Based Practice for School Library Media Specialists

Want to collect the evidence that you boost the achievement in your school with your LMC program? This book provides a multitude of techniques to collect evidence concerning reading, information literacy, collaborative planning, and technology. And like throwing pebbles in a pool causing a ripple effect, these measures not only document what you are doing, but suggest changes in your program to maximize your impact.

AccessMichigan is an umbrella project encompassing several other statewide library programs, including: AccessMichigan grew out of a number of events, beginning in 1994 with the National Information Infrastructure hearings and report, followed by MLA President 1996 Telecommunications Summit. In 1997, the AccessMichigan Steering Committee was formed to assist the Library of Michigan in planning the future of AccessMichigan. The Library of Michigan provided funding for the statewide purchase of commercial databases from OCLC FirstSearch and IAC InfoTrac , and MLC provided statewide Training-the-Trainer workshops for Michigan libraries. In September 1998, the Library of Michigan contracted with MLC to administer AccessMichigan, including promotion and training activities, and Ruth Dukelow was named AccessMichigan Director.

http://lsd.k12.mi.us/~lmcevh2/Pochert.html
LIBRARY MEDIA AIDE COURSE OUTLINE
Instructor: Mrs. Pochert
DESCRIPTION:

Library Media Aide is a course designed for students who want to learn about the library media
center and assist in its daily operation. OUTCOMES:
1. Students will practice work skills such as attendance, promptness, time-on-task, customer
relations, attention to detail, cooperation with co-workers and managers.
2. Students will learn to use the library media center and its resources. ATTENDANCE POLICIES:
In a work situation attendance is vital. Library media work can only be made up by working in
the library, so after 5 absences students will lose one-half of a grade (i.e. A to B+)for each
absence that is not made up by working at lunch, before or after school. After 10 absences, students would have to make up time under the LSD Attendance Policy in order to pass the class as well as making up work so their grade is not lowered. All tardies must be made up in the
