III grant.
Gimme Five was a 5 A Day promotional activity where students and families were invited to build their own fresh fruit or veggie pizzas. Got Milk? was a milk-drinking promotion where students were invited to learn about the benefits of drinking milk, taste-test different types of milk, and get a family picture taken with their whole family sporting milk mustaches.
“Both activities went really well,” explains Susan, “We wanted to make sure people would come so we scheduled it on a night when families were already planning on coming to the school. We knew our pizzas were definitely a success when people turned down the traditional pizza and pop we were offering in the other room, and opted for our veggie pizzas. We’ve had lots of positive feedback, we’ll definitely do something similar to this event again in March.”

Rochelle Riley: Detroiters picture a bright future for the city
December 31, 2000 TODAY IS THE LAST OF a century, the final hurrah of an era that gave new meaning to civil rights and urban planning, to space exploration and global communication, to the Electoral College. It gave us realities that were once dreams and dreams that will someday be realities. We saw communist empires and sports records fall. We watched the No. 1 TV show in the country star a black family. We saw the U.S. Constitution at work and wondered whether it remains the best guideline for a country founded by rebels who displaced Indians and enslaved Africans to pursue their manifest destiny in a land far from a king. We saw native Americans create a way to survive through sheer will, then gambling, and African Americans achieve success and freedom through culture, art and sport, then academia and politics. Here in Detroit, a city watched itself be molded like a beloved old car, lauded as a model to be replicated, then damaged in a 1943 crash into racial and economic reality. Then it was rebuilt, repainted and polished before crashing again into that same racial tree in 1967 and being left to rust.

http://www.charterproject.org/relarticles/ptakaput.htm
The PTA goes Kaput This year, the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, commonly known as the PTA, is celebrating its centennial. But the national PTA has little to cheer about. Fewer than a quarter of America's public schools have active PTA chapters, and officially, PTA membership has fallen from a peak of 12 million in 1966 to 6.5 million today. PTA leaders offer many reasons why their rolls are declining. But they have done little to address the PTA's gravest problemits subservience to the National Education Association Federation of Teachers (AFT). Throughout its history, the PTA has supported higher salaries and better working conditions for teachers. But in 1968, the teacher members of the PTA threatened to withdraw membership and boycott the PTA if the PTAs supported school boards in teacher strikes. Thereupon, the PTA rolled over and adopted a position of "neutrality" on teacher strikes as well as the issues negotiated in union contracts, such as class size, the annual number of parent-teacher conferences, and how parental grievances are resolved. "Neutrality" on these important issues is a big setback for parents: When school boards sacrifice parent interests to teacher interests, as often happens, the PTA does not object. As millions of parents dropped out of the PTA, those who remained tended to be pro-union or unaware of the PTA's pro-union positions. And so the PTA has gradually evolved into a front for the teachers' unions. Consider these recent issues:

Dear Sir:
Time is the enemy. As an emergency responder, you know how important it is to locate the emergency as soon as possible.
Improper addressing frustrates emergency responders, but it could be deadly to the resident because of the delays that result. but the problem persists.
Together, we can minimize if not eliminate this chronic addressing problem.
In summary, this is a great program! If you have a problem with address identification, we can help you eliminate that problem. You can start small; we have no minimum order requirements for you to get started. Signs are shipped via UPS, usually the same day you order, and always within one week.
When you are ready to order, or if you have any questions or suggestions on how to improve this program, please call us. We would love to hear from you.

Steps To A Successful Fundraiser
Years of experience have taught us several things that we can pass on. The most difficult part of this program is getting started. If you are in an area where these markers are new, your project will take a little more effort in the beginning than in an area like southern Michigan or Ohio where everyone has seen these markers. Initially, you must inform your residents WHY they need the markers; But, once you have gotten 100 or so signs up, word of mouth becomes your greatest sales tool. At that point you need to
