Michigan Search Angels
Search Tip Everyone searching in Michigan should call the court requesting a petition, with an appropriate check for $60 and get it filed ASAP, along with a waiver of confidentiality. Then they, the state, will search the state of MI for the family. If they are still living in MI, they will send the family a waiver to sign....they sent one to my son by overnight delivery...and enclosed a return OD which he sent immediatly. If the family has moved out of state, the petition must go before the judge to see of it will be deemed necessary for a CI to be appointed. In most cases it happens. Health reasons are the best way to get the judge to grant it. I hope this helps everyone in MI searching. Marilyn ~

SIGSPED member reports on the Michigan Special Education Technology Conference by Cynthia K. Hayes MACUL/SIGSPED offered me the opportunity to attend the First Annual Michigan Special Education Technology Conference held on November 7- 8, 1997 at the Grand Traverse Resort In Traverse City. The conference was sponsored by Michigan Technology and Media (TAM) a subdivision of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services. In return, I agreed to write my reaction to the conference. I spoke to a number of conference attendees. We all agreed. Traverse City is an ideal conference location The conference was off to a spectacular start on Friday evening with a pre-conference reception at which attendees mingled and meandered around the room as exhibitors presented overviews of their products and services. The conference committee welcomed everyone, and the audience was encouraged to Stump the Experts Saturday morning keynote speaker, Rachel Woschall, Executive Director, Minnesota STAR Program discussed the ABCs of Assistive Technology in Education.
