Temperature - To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius (the unit Centigrade is no longer used) subtract 32 and multiply the result by 5/9. Other imperial units - The following Table is taken from the Schedule to the Units of Measurement Regulations 1995, SI 1995 No 1804. These Regulations provide, from their coming into force on 1 October 1995 (and, for some uses, from 1 January 2000), for those uses of the imperial system for which no implementing legislation has made specific provision. Where, before those dates, use is made in legislation, or in any deed or document (for example), of an imperial unit in the circumstances specified in Directives 71/1354/EEC and 80/181/EEC and legal effect is to be given to that use after those dates, these Regulations provide for its conversion into the metric equivalent. No such conversion from imperial to metric is, however, made in those circumstances where use of imperial units may lawfully continue. For example: where an imperial unit is used as a supplementary indication; the use of the pint for dispensing draught beer and cider.
