Clouds Theme Page This "Theme Page" has links to two types of resources related to the study of clouds. Students and teachers will find curricular resources (information, content...) to help them learn about this topic. In addition, there are also links to instructional materials (lesson plans) which will help teachers provide instruction in this theme. Please read our All About Clouds
USA Today has a series of hyper-linked articles on clouds. Topics covered include: types of clouds, interrelationships between stability and clouds, and how clouds influence weather.
AskERIC Lesson Plans: Meteorology
The above link is to AskEric's Meteorology page where you'll find plenty of lessons about the weather if you wish to browse/search their site yourself. Or, use the links below to go directly to some lesson plans specifically about on clouds.
  • Cloud Types A lesson plan for Grade 5 students. Students will be able to identigy and describe four different cloud types (cirrus, stratus, cumulonimbus, and cumulus).
  • Clouds A multidisciplinary lesson for grdes 4-6 that not only teaches them about clouds but can encourage abstract thinking, writing and painting.

42. Computer Application Lesson Plans
Marc L. As well as find lesson plans, and exercses engines lesson 14 Computers Today lesson 15 An areas of study including geology, meteorology, and hydrology
http://www.cyberlearning-world.com/lessons/ca.htm
This page is dedicated to any and all computer and technology teachers who wish to find ideas that can be used in their own classrooms. Some of these plans might be appropriate for use in other content area classes. These plans follow a standard lesson plan outline, but a teacher may want to choose from one or more sections of the lessons themselves.
One lesson plan may contain a number of activities, and one plan may be implemented over a number of days, almost as though it were a "unit plan." When possible, quizzes and answer may be posted for your use as well. It is my sincere hope that you might be able to use some of these ideas. If you wish to collaborate with me and my classes on any one project, just send me an e-mail message, and we'll see if our students might be able to join forces. Such collaborative projects might take the following formats:
  • Essay exchange on an agreed-upon topic. Real-time chat session on issues of the lesson. Web page development and critique. Viewing a common video and exchanging reviews or ideas. Digitized photo and essay exchange.

Splish, Splash: Water's Journey to My Glass Complete Index Why It's Essential Overview: Since the changing seasons are an integral part of students' lives, it's important that students understand the differences between the seasons in their region. They are probably already aware of the significant differences, such as temperature variations and seasonal household chores, but they may not have thought about the more subtle differences, such as changes in foods available at the market and the length of the days. This lesson will ask them to think about all of these aspects of the seasons. Connections to the Curriculum: Geography, earth science, meteorology Connections to the National Geography Standards: Standard 7: "The physical processes that shape the patterns of Earth's surface" Time: Three to four hours Materials Required:
  • Computer with Internet access
  • Photos of the four seasons (available online)
  • Globe

  • Flashlight (optional)
Objectives: Students will

Teaching in a rural school requires a range of skills as well as the ability to be flexible in the preparing and using of a range of teaching resources. The following links provide some examples of teacher developed resources that may assist teachers working in relative professional isolation and multi-levels for the first time. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is a major driving force within Australian education. The materials in this collection may be used in classrooms. Layers of the Atmosphere To discover how the atmosphere can be divided into layers based on temperature changes at different heights by making a graph. Land vs. Water Temperature Lab To illustrate how dark land surfaces, light land surfaces and water all heat at different rates. Illustrates that water heats more slowly than land and therefore the surface of the Earth must heat at different rates, causing our weather.
