What about the reward?.. ARCHAEOLOGY AND METAL DETECTING Herefordshire Council, like many others, discourages metal detecting unless it is done as part of an organised programme of historical research. The removal of an object, unless undertaken by an expert, can cause the loss of valuable historical information. Objects give us considerably more information about the past if they are recorded in a scientific way and only in the place where they were found, with the earth layers, or stratigraphy of their position fully recorded. It is often the stratigraphy that gives us the most historical information about an area. Whilst it is often the case that metal detecting only removes objects from the plough soil, where the stratigraphy has already been damaged, recording the exact position of an object as exactly as possible is still of vital importance to the historic record. If the field is then walked in a systematic and comprehensive way and the location of objects recorded precisely it may be possible to map out settlement sites from the objects. A metal detectorist can become part of a team of trained enthusiasts and join a field walking programme, where the area is walked in plotted transects and objects retrieved and recorded from these transects. The finds are later identified and and a report written. This type of research can provided valuable information about the history of the landscape around us.

This site is the priemere site for learning all aboutusing metal detectors to find buried treasure.
    http://www.th-ers.com/
MAIN PAGE WHERE TO GO WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHO HUNTS ... ADD TO GUESTBOOK WHY DID I WRITE THIS PAGE? I wrote this web page because I want to pass on to you, the treasure hunter, the things I have learned about treasure hunting. I believe the beginning treasure hunter should learn as much about the hobby before starting out. Hopefully, this web page will give you a head start down the road to successful treasure hunting. Most of the information on this web site will not help the veteran treasure hunter, but I am hoping they can fill out the surveys and questionnaires on the metal detector selection guides, to help us all choose the correct metal detector for our needs. The discussions of different detector types, how to choose a dealer and where to hunt have always been a question that many new detector users ask. I will try and give all the details about all the metal detectors made today, but this can be a chore and may take some time. Be patient and check back often as this site was started on October 10, 2000. It will be growing rapidly. So, in closing my main purpose in this web page is to help all new treasure hunters become successful treasure hunters.

Hello and welcome to my treasure hunting Web site. I have enjoyed metal detecting on and off since 1982. Please take look around my site, I have some tips, information on local places to detect as well as a bit of local lore about South West Florida.
My first detector (back in 1982) was a White's Coinmaster TR, it had one knob and no discrimination but it whetted my appetite for metal detecting. Now 20 years later I still enjoy hitting the beach or park like I did back then, full of anticipation on what I will find next.
If you have any comments, suggestions or also detect in SouthWest Florida please send me a message from my Contact page , I would like to hear from you!
