A lot has been said by academics regarding their heritage and that we detectorists are robbing the country of their heritage. I would like to add that what we recover is our heritage as well and not a single individuals. There are still a few out there that don't agree with our methods of recovery but suffice it to say that we, as responsible citizens, have done more to enhance our knowledge of our heritage and that has not cost the country one pennies worth. PLACES TO HUNT

Good Places To Hunt: parks ball fields const. sites depots fair grounds camping areas old picnic areas lawns schools churches old fishing spots swimming holes sledding areas ski slopes sand pits sidewalk construction fence rows creek beds RR Tracks club houses under bridges lovers lanes old movie theatres demolition sites under deer stands bus stations under park benches around old trees rock parking lots Click 4 More TIP OF THE WEEK - My suggested tip of the week is this...When hunting old parks take a good look at the lay of the land. A big open area at one time may have had shade trees that people used to picnic under or just relax and read...this would be a good place to search for lost coins. Look for big shallow depressions in the ground that may indicate a large tree may have once stood there and been removed later after dying or being struck by lightning....I have found many interesting and valuable coins to add to my collection this way..good luck and happy hunting...Dave Savage

  • Welcome, I am up to over 100 forums for metal detecting listed on my site, the more I find the more amazed I am that there are so many dedicated to this hobby. I have also recently added the URL for the GNIS, at this site you just put in your state and county and what you are looking for. Entering things like, historical post office, battlefield, wells, springs. stage coach stop, etc. allows someone to find places in thier area for research or hunting. The search is based on millions of entries in The Geographic Names Information System. One great thing is that the print out of all the sites give the GPS location. There is also a link to the USGS mapping database, this URL will allow you to print a map of the above places by entering the name, county and state. See my Tips page for more information and the links. I hope all find that this web site is of some use to them. To be sure, there are numerous other

Hi! Welcome to my site. This is my hobby, metal detecting, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for checking it out. Metal detecting to me is a very fun hobby. It is a hobby that you can do alone or with a friend, and the best part of it is that you never know what's going to come out of the ground. That's the thrill of metal detecting, and you can learn a lot about the past too.
Please allow time for items on the pages to load on your computer. This will give you a chance to enjoy this site to the fullest it has to offer. Thanks.
Also, please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think of this site. If you have your own web site, please leave a link, so others can check out your site too.
Feel free to e-mail me if you wish to contribute to this site with your own tips. Without the support of advertisers, this site wouldn't be possible. Please show support by clicking on them. Thank you.
