In all cases of poisoning by substances taken by way of the stomach there are five indications for immediate treatment.
    1. Act quickly.
    2. Empty the stomach by lavage or emetic - the first even if the poison itself has caused vomiting, but not the second when corrosives have been taken.
    3. Neutralize by the appropriate antidote whatever remains in the stomach, despite emetics or lavage, bearing in mind that some poisons are secreted again in the stomach after having been absorbed.
    4. Aid elimination by the bowels and kidneys of what has been absorbed.
    6. Treat the condition resulting from the action of the poison. The giving of whites of eggs is useful in most cases of poisoning, and tannin is antidotal to all alkaloids. Acetanilid (antifebrin)

If you are not a walking medical dictionary, reference, or resource, you may find that medical terms, medical terminology, and medical information is difficult to understand.
  • Have you ever come home with a copy of your medical records and had no idea what most of the words in your chart meant?
  • Have you ever looked up a common medical problem such as cancer or diabetes mellitus in a medical dictionary and became even more frustrated because the description is filled with complex medical terms?
  • Are you interested in learning more about medical terminology in a fun and easy way?
  • If the answer to these questions are yes, then MedFriendly.com is the website for you.
  • MedFriendly is intended for everyone to use, whether you are someone with little or no medical training, a medical student, a nurse, or a Harvard educated medical doctor . All of the information on MedFriendly is presented in an easy to understand and conversational manner. This means that complex words are not used in the definition of medical terms without an explanation as to what they mean. This extra step that we take to avoid possible confusion is the distinguishing feature of MedFriendly that sets us apart from any medical dictionary or comprehensive medical reference. 100. Jason Wolfe's English To Zulu Medical Dictionary
Jason Wolfe s Useful Zulu medical Dictionary. Important Zulu medical Words Their Pronunciation and Translation. **** Copyright Jason
    http://www.jwolfe.clara.net/WebPages/ZuluDict.htm
Jason Wolfe's Useful Zulu Medical Dictionary
    Important Zulu Medical Words -
    Their Pronunciation and Translation
    Completed during my Medical Elective
    Purpose
    • To serve as a quick reference to common zulu words with an emphasis on medical terms.
    • To hopefully enable you to take a meaningful history and do an examination if you were stranded by chance in one of the external clinics with no nurses available to translate.
    Pronunciation and Grammer
    • Most Zulu words of two or more syllables are spoken with the second last syllable lengthened, emphasized, and raised to a higher pitch.  The last syllable is then spoken softly.
    • Consonants on their own are generally pronounced in a very sharp precise way.  However if the consonant is followed by the letter  'h', then the consonant is spoken more softly.
    • To indicate that you are asking a question, the last word in the sentence has  "na"  added onto the end.  The pitch of the  'na'  is raised in an enquiring manner just as in English.
    Pronunciation of different letter combinations
c Inward sucking  "tska".  Loud and Sharp.
