It feels a bit odd putting together children's crafts for Mother's Day (being the mom in the family and all). But I suppose it's ok since we make lots of things for the grandmas. Quite a few of the kids' crafts on this page take something other than a toilet paper roll. But the kids should still be able to put together most of the crafts with common household items. I have given a few different alternatives where I thought the kids may not have the craft supplies. I hope everyone finds a useful craft! (I wonder how many dads are visiting this page... Darren, are you peeking? *grin*)

POPPY WREATH
Materials you will need are a printer, paper (I prefer white construction paper or another heavier paper), scissors, glue, crayons and a paper plate.
Print out the template of choice. Depending on the size of your wreath you may need two copies to complete it.
Colour pieces, as necessary.
Cut out the poppies. This step may require adult assistance and can be done prior to making the craft with the children.
Cut the center out of the paper plate to leave a round "donut" shape. This will form the base of the wreath. You may paint it a background colour if you like (green or brown would work nicely).
Paste the poppies onto the paper plate.
You can tie a bow and paste it on to decorate further.
You can put a piece of yarn on the back to hang it.
Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.
Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).

In this section, you will find fun crafts, hand-made gifts and do-it-yourself decorations. I Love You Books
What you will need:
Construction paper
collection of magazine pictures
pencils, markers and crayons
hole punch yarn Think of the person you want to give a special gift to. What are the things you love about this person and what things do you love to do with them. Once you decide, begin looking through magazines to find pictures related to those activities and traits. For example , if you love helping your Grandmother in the garden, you may want to look for pictures of flowers (you can also use pictures from seed packages) and garden bugs like butterflies and caterpillars. Once you have your collection of pictures, you can begin putting your book together. Using a combination of drawings and magazine pictures, create pictures in your book that tell a story about the things you love to do with your Grandparent or parent. For example , if you love going fishing with Grandpa you may want to draw the two of you in a boat. Draw everything but the faces which you cut out of a photograph of the two of you and glue in place. Then draw the sky and water which you fill in with magazine pictures of fish and other sea creatures.

Old Village Crafts Fair Coming May 2
By Wendy K. Kreitzman
Wow! Twenty-six years and still going strong! The Village of Great Neck's 26th Annual Street Fair/Crafts Fair is coming to town on Sunday, May 2. The fun in the Old Village starts at 11 a.m. and continues, all day, until 6 p.m. Just walk over to Middle Neck Road, all the way from Fairview Avenue to Hicks Lane, and enjoy the day. Crafts Fair exhibitors Roberta Katcher and Roberta Seid are gearing up for the 26th Annual Village of Great Neck Street Fair. Of course, admission is free! Sponsored by the Village of Great Neck, with some assistance by the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce, the fair will feature over 200 well-known, quality exhibits, including handcrafted pottery, stained glass, jewelry, art and so much more. Unique, often one-of-a-kind offerings are crafted from fiber, wood, metal and leather. Exhibit after exhibit presents beautiful, handcrafted items, works of art for the home, for the office, for a special gift. Beautiful handmade clothing and accessories are once again a special part of the day. And great outfits for children, as well as wonderful handmade toys, are always a big hit. Among the vendors making a return visit are Roberta Seid and Roberta Katcher, two Great Neck residents who are justifiably proud of their "R&R Cheesencounters" booth. "When you change a shape of an ordinary bottle, add beads, copper, chains, jewelry parts, vintage and original labels, they truly become a work of art," says Ms. Seid, an art instructor for the Great Neck Park District. Her crafts are "sun catchers," she explained, and also serve as a function, be it a cheese board, serving platter, clock or a dip dish.

Breakfast in bed is always a hit... moms love to be pampered on Mothers Day so what better way than to serve her in bed. Make her a headband out of construction paper about 2 inches thick and 25 inches long and tape the ends together. Cut flowers and leaves out of the colored paper and glue or tape them on the headband. Another idea is to cut flowers out of constuction paper, glue them onto pipe cleaners and write on the backs of them little things you can do for her throughout the day such as; paint her toenails, wash the car, do the dishes, give her a manicure, make her bed, give the dog a bath... etc. Place the paper flowers in a vase and let mom pull one out every hour or so throughout the day. She will love it!

76. The Holiday Zone: Arts And Crafts For Labor Day
Arts and crafts Return to Celebrating Labor day at The Holiday Zone Return to The 2001, 2002 by Julie Vickery webmaster@theholidayzone.com You may use this
http://www.theholidayzone.com/labor/art.html
Arts and Crafts Create-A-Town
Divide students into groups of four to six. Give each group a sheet of poster board. Direct each group to plan a town. Each town will be at least half an hour from neighboring towns, so students will need to make sure their town includes all necessary servicesdoctor's office, gas station, grocery store, hospital, mechanic, police, post office, schools, etc.
Ask each group to draw a map of its town on the posterboard. On the back of the board, students should list the workers they will need to keep their towns running. More advanced students should include demographic information about their towns. (A town with 1,000 people, for instance, may need only one doctor's officer; but a city with 100,000 will need more than one doctor.)
After each group completes its town, it can create a informational brochure on its town. The brochure should include drawings of the town's main attractions. It should also tell what kinds of jobs are available in the area.
When all groups are finished, each group may present its town to the class. Students should vote to select the best town. (Encourage students to be practical. An amusement park in town might be nice, but it the town lacks a fire department or a high school, it's probably not the best place to live.) If desired, you might add other awards such as most attractive town, most interesting town, largest town, quietest town, etc.
History of Labor
Research the history of labor in the U.S. or another country. Make a list of events that had a major impact on the common laborer (i.e. end of slave labor; restriction of child labor; standard eight-hour work day; rise of unions; minimum wage law; equal pay laws; etc.). Create a pictoral time line using these events.

I'm thinking of giving him a frame with their handprints in it alongside a picture of the two girls together. I picked up a little kit at Target yesterday afternoon. Along with a "Meghan made card".... glue foot prints with sparkles on top of the glue.
Though a little frame with a poem on one side and a picture on the other would be awesome.
