Vision Resources Library
3 Randolph Street ~ Baylies Lower Building ~ Canton, Ma 02021 Tel~ (800) 827-7772 Fax ~ (781) 575-9601 Who We Are~ The Massachusetts Vision Resources Library (VRL), established in 1964, is a center for the acquisition, maintenance and distribution of specialized instructional materials that are fundamental towards providing appropriate education and equal access to the general curriculum for visually impaired students. The VRL supports the Massachusetts Department of Education’s commitment to provide a free and appropriate education by being an optional resource for school districts seeking to borrow materials on a per school year basis. It is ultimately the responsibility of the school district to provide any and all specialized materials deemed essential and included in the student’s IEP. Examples of items available for loan would be braille writers, tape recorders, slate and stylus’, pre-braille and literacy kits, tactile tools, raised lined maps, braille and large type textbooks, standardized tests, assessment tools and materials available with Federal Quota Funds through the American Print House for the Blind.
Student Eligibility~
Any student resident in the Commonwealth with special educational needs in regard to vision, ages 3 to 22 (or to the age a high school diploma is attained, i.e. college students are not eligible) can be eligible for services.

Child Care - Overview - Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services (OCCS) consolidates all aspects of childcare and residential services for children, including adoption agencies, to: Set and enforce health, safety, and educational standards for children and youth; Ensure quality childcare through consumer education and professional development and training; Create an integrated system for delivery of quality, accessible, and affordable child care services, birth through school age; Standardize eligibility requirements and intake procedures for families looking for subsidized child care; Prioritize access to state subsidized child care by targeting eligible low income families, authorized welfare-to-work participants, teen parents, and Department of Social Services family support consumers; and Coordinate childcare services with the Department of Education and other state agencies involved with early care and education. OCCS regulates, through licensing, all family childcare homes, group day care centers, and school age child care centers, as well as residential homes for children with special needs and child placement agencies (e.g., foster care or adoption agencies). OCCS also administers and purchases subsidized childcare for income eligible families, early learning services, special childcare services, and childcare resource and referral services. OCCS implements the Federal Child Care and Development Funds (CCDF) allocated to each State to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of early childhood and school age care.
