Maryland City Directories Online Search
Return to City Directories Homepage This guide to Maryland city directory records was created to provide genealogists with access to most Maryland directories from a single page.
City directories contain information about the location of a person's residence, whether they owned or rented their residence, their profession, and perhaps the names of relatives living at or near the same address. Frequently other information is provided including a death record for the year of the publication, the location of cemeteries, churches and other places important to genealogists. Directories have long been used to help with genealogy research. The Internet has allowed people to share city directory records via web sites. This has brought access to online records which can be searched through various means. Many old city directories are available for free usage on a variety of web sites. Some are available only via the purchase of CD-ROMs via ebay and some commercial organizations which specialize in scanning and making available these resources. Even more directories are available via subscription sites. Searching for directories on a search engine like Google.com

73. ARONHALT FAMILY: Where Do I Fit In?
Researching genealogy in maryland and West Virginia.
http://members.tripod.com/~charlieo5/
ARONHALT FAMILY...
. . . WHERE DO I FIT IN? Genealogy Research Notes of Charlie O'Haver, a great-great-great grandson of Adam Aronhalt the earliest family member recorded in this ongoing compilation I began researching the ARONHALT family history a number of years ago branching off from a study of my own surname of O'Haver. My great-grandfather John William O'Haver and great-grandmother Lydia V. Aronhalt married in 1855 in Hardy County, Virginia (what is now Grant County, West Virginia). They had several children before the marriage ended in divorce about 1880. Lydia came from a large family. Her father John Aronhalt married Mary "Polly" Kitzmiller in 1827 in Hardy County, Virginia. They were the parents of ten children. But my research ran into a snag with the 1850 Hardy County Census which shows John and the ten children in the household, but Polly's name isn't included. The 1860 Census lists John with less children in the household, but still no wife. I have not found any information to show that Polly died prior to 1850, or if she and John divorced. However, John remarried after 1860 to Isabell S. Lee, and the couple had several children. Although there are numerous surnames of this family line, I have used the ARONHALT spelling throughout. Among other spellings I've come across several of which were handwritten into records by obvious error include: Aaronhalt, Aronholt, Aronhault, Arnholt, Arnhart, Erinholt, Erinhold, Ernhart and Earnheart.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~carolines/
OAS_AD('Top'); Welcome Hello friends and fellow researchers, welcome to my little place on the web! Unfortunately I am not able to do research for others, due to family and occupational priorities. If I have nothing on your line of descent listed on my gedcom, I am sorry but chances are that I do not know anything about your ancestors. Also, the 1910 to 1920 time period is usually my cut-off point for genealogical research. So if your eldest sister or brother is listed in my gedcom but you are not, please believe me when I say that it is not personal. It boggles my mind the number of times I have received emails from people who are either outraged or indignant because I have " missed half of their family " and " how could this happen? " so sorry, no harm intended. The colonial and early federal periods of our history is where I like to do my research, after 1900 seems much too recent for me. I concentrate on families that lived on the Delmarva Peninsula and do not tarry long beyond our sandy soil. E. Parker Todd

80. The 'Other' Hatfield's
genealogy, including related families, from maryland to Texas.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chey/gen.html
OAS_AD('Top');
Surname information updated May 23, 2002 Welcome to my family history site. Here you will find the genealogy that I am working on along with photos of my ancestors. I also have a links page with links to other sites that tie in with my genealogy and links for web sites of family and friends.
Come on in and look around, maybe you'll find a connection or a hint in what direction to look in.
I am researching HATFIELD'S and related families. The farthest back I have is SAMUEL and ARIAN HATFIELD. SAMUEL was born ca. 1784 in Maryland. This family traveled through Pennsylvania, Ohio and settled in Indiana. A few of us moved on to Texas in the early 1950's. We are the 'Other Hatfield's', not to be confused with the well known feuding Hatfield's. JOHN HATFIELD was an Indiana farmer and his son WILLIAM HATFIELD was a barber in Indiana during the feud years. Although family stories say we are related to the feuding clan I have yet to make a connection.
In order to protect the living I have not listed information on anyone that is alive, and have not included sources for the same reason. The information listed here comes from my own research as well as information sent to me from various cousins. This information is given to aid in the research of the families. Although every effort has been made to assure accuracy it is not 100% proven nor guaranteed to be accurate.
